lol this could be where the great divide starts between blue states and red ones

No debate...yeah!

God created the Earth and the World so creationism although I've never heard it called that before.

I was created.

Everyone else evolved. :teeth:

One school in or near Philly is teaching "Intelligent Design".... which really is creationism, or possibly alien life force inspired... hard to tell. :teeth:

Doesn't alien life forms already have it's own religion? Scientology?

I don't know what I believe. I want to believe there is a God and that we have a purpose, think about how bleak it would be if we just lived, died and that was it. Although I have reservations like a lot of people do.

Papa-What do you believe?

I voted unsure, but lean towards evoloution.

Other. I think God created everything. But I think he created plants, animals, humans, etc. with the ability to adapt to their surroundings (climate change, etc.) and change (to an extent) over time. I think that's why Eskimos have more fat, etc. Also I think it is possibly that the evolution we think of is really the time he spent creating things. I don't believe the literal interpretation of 7 days.

EDITED: Another theory, is that God likes to have "fun" with us and enjoys wathcing people debate between creationism vs. evolution. So he made it appear one way and then said it happened another way....kind of like a practical joke.

If it were a public school and my child were attending, they wouldn't be teaching "intelligent design" for very long! Any public employee who tried to push religion or God on my child would find him or herself with a lawsuit that even their "intelligent creator" wouldn't be able to get them out of! Besides, my little heathen would get in thier face and humilate them with her knowledge of evolution and her profound rejection of God. My kid can argue with the best of the creationists.

And for what it's worth, I didn't raise my daughter to be an athiest. I'm pagan and have been all my life, but she totally and completely rejects the existance of a God. I would actually love to be a fly on the wall if or when a teacher tried to shove God down her young activist-oriented throat! Nobody tells her what to believe.

Pop Daddy, always inadvertently declaring the immaculate truth. :)

Blue stater. DNA convinced me. Creationism is a story told eons ago to calm our ancestors. It's a beautiful notion, a beautiful story. It also bears no scientific resemblance to reality. I wish it did. But I've made my peace. :)

Darn it! I already voted for evolution! Now there's this theory and I'm all confused... after all, it IS based on science!
Oh, I think someone's been touched by His noodly appendage! :rotfl:

'intelligent design' is a way for people take the 5th, IMO. when you live in ecosystems like the ones in FLA, you can easily spot out evolutionary cues, especially if you dive. but that's my take, and I'm of the school 'you don't know and I don't know either'. and that's how we're raising our daughter. fossils and carbon dating made me a believer in evolution a loooooong time ago. :)

I'm glad we're not debating because how could we avoid the next obvious question? Was the Tag Fairy created or did she evolve? :teacher:

Evolution all the way. I don't believe in god, so there goes 'creationism' or 'intelligent design'.

Robin highlights a solid point: I give credit to whomever at the think tank came up with "intelligent design." It's a perfect euphamism. It's a heck of a lot harder to fight a notion of "intelligent design" than to fight the notion that "God made man of clay and woman of the man's rib, except that men and women have the same number of ribs ..."

exactly, it's a write-off. if science knocks out your beliefs, there's always 'intellegent design'. but where did the designers come from? it's a vicious circle.

It's a clever euphamism, pure political genius, like "compassionate conservatism." Who can fight with compassionate conservatism? I wish it really existed.

If God created us in his own image, then where is the intelligence? (seriously)
