I have had a few long term careers in my life the past 40 years.

Recently since I had to medically retire from police work I spent 3 years supervising court ordered visitations with kids and high risk parents in a grant program, The funding cut and I was out of work for several months.

I am working as a third party insurance field investigator $15 and hr and mileage, when there is work in NE PA local. One week 20 hrs, the next three weeks nothing. Last week only 4 hours. This week 2.5.

So In addition to this I was strongly considering using my Education BA and teaching accredidation in Criminal Justice and Sociology, along with 20 years in law enforcenment, 10 as a Police Chief to go into Private investigation.

BUT, I want to do it as a service providing monitoring of supervised court ordered visits again.

Not at my home, maybe use a Church basement, their home, a neutal eatery and then report to the court the observations and recommendations.

NOW What do I call it:
Not PI DI, lol
I have a LONGGGG German name, lol

I thoght somehow incorperate about family oriented, children visitings

Sine you've worked in law enforcement I would call the court system to see what is required in your area do provide this service. I know my friend looked into having supervised visitation and in her state it is monitored by DFACS.... They actualy supervisory person is a social worker or a child therapist..

Does you local probate/family court not just keep a running list of people who do this? I'm a CPS worker and a lot of my coworkers do this on the side. The local court house keeps a list of family visit supervisors and how much they charge (they are allowed to set their own terms) and then hands the list to the families who require this service.

I like the ideas, the keep me encouraged. We only had our program that the court utilized under a grant. However as it was non theraputic, and neutrality was the basis, no recommendqations in reports were made to the court.
The violation of any rules being broken; ie, interrogating the children, if a pfa. asking where they were living or going to school. Asking if their mother or father is dating. etc.

They have to interact, and care for disciplining the child in appropriate was;. We would redirect if there was a problem, remove the child if warnings were not heeded, and that visits were immediatly suspended.

I would not want to start a program, but be an addition to the guardian guardian ad litem , for the family. Meet and interview in each home, meet the child/children;

I found that the the issueing of the detective license by the Judge in our county court would provide the licensing. That paper work would include the bond I can get from the notary bond provider.
That would allow the marketing for my services.
I would have to meet, word of mouth through the attorneys market my skills and services. This would be third party.I am still in the ironing out details stage.

My lady friend is a child educational advocate for various attornies. She attends IME's. magistrate hearings, 504 plans, anything with meeting, documenting and educating the family on truancy, behavoral, or disability issues. Mainly with the schooling.

I met her through an attorney that utilized her services;
At $30 an hr and mileage it was a lot less expensive then attaining an attorney for mediation with the school for my school phobic dd. She was a gifted student and tormented at school. The system did nothing to help. This lady helped our family and became a friend.

I know how to get a fed ID no. The career link stated not to do it until I was ready to open. I have the documents from having a home notary business. I would not do the visits or intake in my home.

I will use the summer to brain storm.
I won;t have to register the ficticious name if I use my own but then use the marketing phrase for my services.....

The county would never allow any other person on their payroll to do the guardian work. BUT if families, through the recommendation were agreeable to my services they would be responsible to pay.

The amount each party would agree in the court order. All dates for the visits in the order.
Similar to recommending a referral to anger management, parenting skill classes.

No our county does not. The best is the two guardian ad litem recommendation to have a thrd party family memeber. Then we did offer the service at a non profit agency.This was under a Safe Havens grant and want not theraputic. It was primarily for saftey, and to avoid those with PFA's from having contact during exchanges.

When I was injured in 2000 I went back and finished my BA degree;
Dual in social work and criminal justice, worked about 3 years in a visitation program under a grant. That was all that was available in our area.

This idea feels right to do as a family advocate and am supplying the papers to the court for Private detective license. That adds the security part of the concerns of parents for their children.

I love the suggestions, To just use my name would not relate the service provided.

I can get the license over the next month. I am still recieving $80 in unemployment and work very part time consulting and field work for an adjuster agency.

I need to structure the visits:
Rent space? Use a schedule of public areas for low risk maybe.
The library childrens area one week. eatery another week. Parks during good weather.

The parks would work to monitor week end visit exchanges too...
