We're considering a quick trip to Disney in early August. The annual passholder rates at the resorts seem pretty good. However, in the past we've only visited in Winter (January - March), Spring (April or May) or Fall (October). So I'm wondering two things: 1) Is it going to be unbearably hot? (We've had some hot weeks in May - mid 90's); and 2) Is it going to be really crowded? Would appreciate any input from those with August experience. Thanks!

Went to Disney Aug. 1 - 8 2002. Yes, it was hot but i didn't find it unbearable. Went into the parks early in the morning and by 1 or 2 o'clock we headed back to the hotel for a swim and rest. Then back out later for dinner and parks. We did have rain, but it didn't last very long. We got luckly because it usually rained while we were back at the hotel resting. I would go back in August again. Hope this info helps.

We went last August and loved it - so much we are going again. One thing - remember your poncho. It rained in the afternoon (around 3:00) almost every day.

We go in August each time since we are both teachers and that is the best time for us to go. Crowds are big but very bearable. The temp is hot yet we too go back to the hotel around 1-2 and rest. Then back again later. We will be there this August for 9 days, cant be that bad!

Yup, it's real hot...not the best time of year.

That said, I'd take any time at WDW....see you there in August again;)

I go in August every year. I dont think the crowds are as bad as in July. I know that the rest of the country starts school in mid August so there are a lot of NYers in August being we start in early September. Its Hot but FLA is hot year round. In mid to late August - the parks close earlier but the crowds are not to overwhelming - well from my experience that is!!!!

No doubt about it....August is brutal!!

Hot, humid and rain just about every afternoon. Hordes of people.

That said, we will be there Aug 4 - 18:teeth:

With alittle planning August is very manageable. Like others have said we go to the parks early an try to go back to the resort around 1:00. We swim, nap or just relax and head back to the park for dinner.

Use fast pass, bring ponchos, don't forget the sunblock, mix up the outside attractions with the inside air conditioned ones and you'll be fine.

Yes August is still quite hot and humid but my advice would be to go as late in the month as you can go, since many schools head back into session the end of the month and early Sept. alot of people like to be home to get things ready for their kids to start school (clothes shopping, supply shopping etc) So I would say anytime after the 15th the crowds should be alot less. And it does still rain during the afternoon during Aug.......very typical of FL. summers.

We went in August Two years ago and we are going again in a month. Yes, it was hot. There were a couple of showers- only one day of RAIN, you don't even need the poncho's on the days there is a quick shower you kind of welcome it. It is hot, but bearable as long as you keep yourself hydrated. Sounds like a no brainer, but when your at WDW the time seems to go by faster and if you don't pause and hydrate and push to the next attraction you can get yourself in trouble. The kids don't mind the heat either (took 5 last time and they never complained about the heat). The crowds arn't as bad as people say in August either ( I have gone in January, April and August and they were all comparable). I say go and Have a BLAST!!!!!!!

It is hot!! We went last year from the 15th-23rd. On our last 4 nights it rained torrentially, for about 4 hours! Lots of lightening and thunder. But, we still had a lot of fun. Bring your ponchos, and be prepared to get wet. Several pairs of shoes. Try to do your 'must do's' early in the day....that way if it does get stormy, you won't feel so badly. Drink a lot of water and try to do a good meal each day. Take a mid-day break from the parks.

We are going back same time frame this year, so how bad could it have been??!!! Have fun!

Just wanted to add that the rainy time is the best time to stay at the park. I went to MK last year at about 4:30pm as it starting pouring. You would have thought it was closing time the way I had to fight against "traffic" to get up mainstreet. The rain stopped in 20 minutes and the park was virtually empty until about 9pm. Less than 10 minute waits on everything I went on.

It was terrific

We are also going in Aug. This will be our first summer trip in years.........We are booked from the 22nd, to the 1st of Sept. Can't wait!!!!

I see you live in Parsippany, I lived in Lake Hiawatha as a child, and my sister lives in Parsippany now!:teeth:

We went the 3rd week of Aug last year and it was hot and very very rainy but I had planned to go back in Aug again this year. However the reports of bigger crowds than last year (parks being packed unlike last summer) is making me rethink this plan. I didn't think it was too terrible in the parks last summer but I really don't want to be in huge crowds! Perhaps we'll go in the Fall instead.

Good luck deciding!

We like the last full week in August. At times we seemed to have sections of the parks to ourselfs. Sure, it's hot, but we take it easy.::MickeyMo
