Crazy to leave at 3am for flight??

I would also go earlier, we often take the 6:20 out of PHL. If I were you though I would definitely stay in a hotel closer to the airport if snow or ice were a consideration.

Often a park & fly hotel is cheaper than to pay for long term parking at the airport. It would be a no brainer for me! We always arrive to the airport area hotel the night before our flight and do the park, shuttle, fly package.

check out trinityreservations for park/fly packages.

Hi all, right now we are booked on a flight that gets to Orlando at 4:30pm, which is okay. However, there is a flight that leaves our airport (Albany) at 7:30am and gets to Orlando at 10:40am! Seems like a no brainer, right?

The only problem is that we have to drive 2 hours to get to the airport, so we'd need to leave our house by 3am to make the 7:30am flight. Am I crazy to even consider doing that? I just want as much of the magic as I can get! It's only my husband and I, so no kids will be traveling.

We don't do parks on the day of arrival so we'd just plan on lounging around our hotel, which is the fabulous Beach Club!

What do you all think?

Our plan is always first flight in/last flight out. Why hang around the house when you could be at BCV, relaxing by the pool, with a drink in the warm , sunny weather! No kids involved makes it all the more easier to just rest and relax. You may need a vacation to recover from your vacation, but it really is worth it! My vote, bite the bullet and take the early flight!

I haven't done quite that early, but close! We took a 6:30 a.m. flight, which meant leaving the house at about 4 a.m. (up at 3). Like a previous poster mentioned, I usually can't sleep the night before Disney anyway! Our flight got in before 9 a.m. and we lucked out that our room at BWI was ready when we got there. We waited for our luggage, freshened up a bit and were able to hit the F&WF before noon. That was great! I thought I'd be crashing with exhuastion but got my second wind and even stayed out until midnight for EMH. We were kid-free that trip so I'm not sure how DD would've done. We were set to test it out in April but JB moved the 6:30 flight to 8:30.

The other benefit for us is we don't hit traffic that early in the morning.

I checked trinity reservations and it says nothing is available but when I check on other sites it shows availability. But I am worried about the shuttle showing up on time or at all.

We've always booked the shuttle directly with the hotel upon check in and have NEVER had a problem.:confused3

I say Go For It !!! I bet you won't regret it. Since you arent doing any parks that day, you can lounge by the pool all day. Even nap if you want to. I sure bet the relaxation alone will make you feel like you made the BEST decision. ENJOY!!! :goodvibes

One alternative that comes to my mind is going to Albany the night before and staying in a cheap hotel near the airport. That way you could get up 2 or more hours later and make the same flight.

That is a good suggestion !! More time spent in Florida, the better !! :thumbsup2

I'm all for getting there as early as possible, so I vote for leaving at 3:30 a.m.:thumbsup2 Have a great trip!

My sentiments exactly. I bet the OP will not regret it if they take your advice!! ::yes::

It looks like you can get something through parksleepfly for around $100 and it includes room for the night, shuttle to and from the airport and up to 15 days of parking.

We almost always fly out of Albany on Southwest's earliest flight of the day so we usually have to leave our house between 2 and 3 am to make the drive. We live just about right between Albany and Syracuse so either airport we have to leave early.

2 years ago, we did decide to book a hotel the night before our flight. It was near the airport and we could leave our car there and catch a shuttle to and from the airport. Otherwise, we just park in the economy lot after getting up early to drive down.
