Crazy things you've heard people say about Covid-19

That Covid is fake.
It had to be a global thing, so businesses shut down. Had to be big enough to distract most people.

All related to Epstein.. (cracks me up, how big this conspiracy is)
While all this is going on.. CEO of companies got changed. some folks changed citizenships, others disappeared ..
They even explained that short time that we were doing better.. conspiracy says “they thought all was safe) then Maxwell was arrested. So people who thought were ok, they are now exposed. So the US is reclosing to give them another chance..
Somehow there is a pizza thrown in.
🤣😂

From a family member who just keeps drinking the Kool-Aid:

"Yep! I shared an AMAZING video today w real Drs not owned by the Left that all said the same thing! FB took it down in seconds. You still think it’s just a virus???"

She also thinks Bill Gates is involved.

The funniest thing is that our military is just one huge socialist machine. The entire thing. Every aspect of how it's run and funded, right down to the commissaries where people just LOVE to shop for their subsidized groceries.

And yet, I challenge you to find me just ONE person who complains about socialism and yet, has an issue with this. I'll wait. I'll be waiting for a long time.

Yes because we aren't allowed to discuss politics here.
Or maybe because trying to have a conversation with those who think social security and the military are equal to socialism as a form of government would be pointless. Reminds me of a quote by Mark Twain.........

I had several FB friends post the video yesterday before it was taken down. I am floored that anyone believes it. Especially after learning about the crazy doctor's theories about demons and such.

You just did.

And here too: https://www.bostonherald.com/2020/06/12/expert-keep-schools-closed-until-a-vaccine/

And https://www.lowellsun.com/2020/06/0...eed-help-until-a-coronavirus-vaccine-arrives/

And "The Chicago Teachers Union said Thursday that in a survey of its members, about 40% of the 4,800 teachers who responded believed in-classroom instruction should not resume until a COVID-19 vaccine is widely available, even if that’s a year from now." https://chicago.suntimes.com/educat...-back-school-without-clear-safety-precautions

And all ridicuous.

None of those articles say that.

People like to spout 'I don't know anyone personally who's had it" for the same reason that early on in this, what was happening in NYC etc was dismissed by some as 'fake' information. It wasn't real,it was media hype. If it's not happening directly to me, it's not really happening.:headache: It's just the newest version of that mentality.

Dumbest thing I hear people say... "I'm SO over covid." I swear my blood starts boiling when I hear someone say that,as if they suddenly get to decide how things are gonna go.
And yes, I know a "homeopathic practitioner" who has told me that the only people that die from this are people who've had a flu shot in the past......:headache::headache::headache: so he feels safe and doesn't need a mask. Or to socially distance at all.

"They make every cause of death be Covid. Even if you die in a car accident, Covid is on the death certificate." I just heard an otherwise intelligent person say this a week ago.

I’ve also have otherwise intelligent friends say this. We live in a large retirement community of over 100,000 people with an average age over 65. We had two months, April and May, with NO reports of Covid deaths. I pointed out it is very hard to believe no one in the entire community died of anything in those two months.

Here there are many people that don’t know of anyone who has had Covid. However, people who have come down with it tend to hide it. It has a stigma here. Not good for contact tracing.

There are definitely some I should have on ignore but then I think they shouldn't be allowed to post their nonsense unchallenged, so currently I don't ignore anyone. If they post unchallenged then more people will believe the nonsense.

I've been here long enough challenging them on other terrible takes. I don't like to get into drama with the mods, so to the ignore list they go.

The person put that quote IN quotes. I have never heard a single person say they LITERALLY should hide in the home until a vaccine is available. It is over dramatic hyperbole.

I've seen most of these but the one that puzzles me the most is - we only have so many cases because we are testing so many more people.
I noticed last week that my county's Dashboard included testing rates in a chart along with the rate of cases.

For a while we were actually having more cases found by testing more people as testing supplies amped up (drive through events, lowered requirements to seek a test especially when the symptom of fever was dropped as a requirement). Our positive percentage rate dropped dramatically (lowest I think was 3.5% or so when before it was above 10% at the county level). Eventually the tide turned and it became testing is not accounting for this large (and it was a fairly big spike) in cases nor the increase in positive percentage (presently at 6.6%; around July 4th that was 4.7% so you can see how the spread has really gone up).

So I wouldn't say that's a crazy thing because it actually does occur. The issue, IMO, more lies when people don't look for anything else but increase in testing and then say "well that's why the numbers are higher." because what we all should be doing is looking for all the reasons and in the last month that reason is largely community spread but if you were discussing back in May and early June the story was a bit different.

I've seen a good amount of what others have mentioned. Most recently one of my sister-in-laws posted about the election and mask wearing and covid not being around next year because it wasn't an election year. This sister-in-law is not actually interested in politics so she's just listening to people she knows spout nonsense. I'm not even sure she really understands the stuff she repeats either.

I follow a former news anchor in my area and SHE POSTED THE VIDEO. I was floored. She said she just could not keep silent any longer and was certain the FB police would take down her post. I replied to her asking if her account had been hacked. I mean, come on, a news anchor believes this crap?

Sure a news anchor believes it just like doctors and nurses and teachers believe it, too.

I’m still hearing some people say it’s a hoax. No idea how this ridiculous idea started.

We’re really early in the spread of COVID. A lot more people are going to get it.

Instead of the crazy fake news in my feed during 2016, I now get crazy virus stuff.
