Crazy Splash Mountain Question

My DS (11) wants to ride Splash Mountain with his eyes open this year lol. He has gone from taking the chicken exit, to riding with eyes closed and ducked down but he is really keen to actually see the drop this time. However, he is quite concerned that the brambles are very close to the top of the ride vehicles and may actually be close enough to hit him in the head (hence why he ducks down according to him). Does anyone know how far up the brambles actually are? I can't find anything about this (not surprisingly lol) and the youtube videos still make it look really close! TIA

Can't tell you the actual distance, but they are very carefully placed so as to be out of reach of even the tallest individuals. Disney isn't going to risk a lawsuit from somebody getting hurt by them.

I've heard of some pretty big athletes riding splash so I can't imagine it being too close either.

I feel certain that even if you were (to attempt) to stand and reach as far over your head as possible, you still would not be able to touch them... I don't recommend testing this theory, however!

Yes, I don't think it'd be possible for him to hit the branches even if he tried. Tell him to not worry and to enjoy it! :) It's one of my personal favorite rides offered at Disney.

They really aren't as close as they appear. There have never been any reports of people hitting them, otherwise Disney would move them. Also, Disney runs clearance tests throughout the attractions just for this very reason. Maybe show him a POV video on YouTube so that he's prepared for what he'll be seeing?

Getting through the first time is the hardest, but after he musters up the courage he'll likely want to ride it again in case he blinked the first time. ;)
