Crazy Question

I am trying to plan a trip to invite my daughters friend and mom with us for next year. I will have access to bounce back in a couple weeks. I plan to book to All Star rooms or at POP if any is available. Here is my crazy question, I would like to have this as economical for our friends as possible and will cover most of it. I know if I offered to pay for their food they would not allow it, however if I told them it was included with the reservation they would accept it. On the off chance a free dinning offer comes out, (which II am not holding my breath for) is it ever possible to book us all in one room with the tickets and free dinning and then still book a second room only reservation with a discount. Can my name be on two reservations?

A good number of years ago when the room rate was less than the DP for 4 or less people some DVC members would do just that. Today there are some issues with doing it but so long as you keep your real reservations park tickets names and all on the FD reservation and use shortened names and do NOT attach to your MDE account just get a card when you check in you should be fine. Others will have other ideas to add. However I doubt with the price of the DP you will see it offered free in the short term however if Disney keeps heading in the direction it currently is with lower attendance you might in 2025. But who knows they could use late in 24 as well.

What about booking Music Family Suite with Paying for Dining Right now if that would be acceptable. There'd be space, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. If free dining can be applied, so be it, or a discount sounds like with the bounceback. You can't have both a discount and free dining, so that's a decision for later. But sounds like you want to pay their food anyway. You could add counter service plan for cheaper. And with that being one room, they won't feel like you bought them a whole room. Price wise its close to buying 2 rooms.

You can book a multiroom reservation which will give you two rooms in your name. You can ask about this when you call for the bounceback since multi-room reservations can only be made by calling WDW. Then your friend would never see the costs of the trip. The dining plan is returning for 2024 so can purchase that, too.

Thanks for the suggestions. The music family suite was also one we are considering. I don’t think I want to pay for the dinning plan, but with values if free dinning was offered I would be willing to forego the room discount in exchange. Its benefit just wouldn’t be quite as good having to pay rack rate for 2 rooms, but I don’t think we want to all stay in one room.

Idea? What if you purchased 2 disney gift cards - one for you and one for them from the Disney website and say that they were part of the package and mailed to your address because you made the reservation. If you both get the same amount maybe she MIGHT believe it. Even if the gift card didn't pay for all the meals it would definitely help out.

What you are trying to do is very kind, however in my experience, the truth always comes out. If your friends would not accept an outright offer for you to pay for their meals, imagine how upset they will be if they ever found out you did it a non-transparent manner. Just be up front, tell them their company is important for you to enjoy the trip, you have the means to pay for the food and would like to do it. If they refuse, find less expensive ways to eat (bring your own lunches, share quick service meals, etc) and let them cover their costs. Maybe you could cover one special meal.

Agree with this. If the friend declines the offer, then respect that. Plus this is how things get started with people being adamant that they got "free dining in 2024" when there was no such thing (referring to buying a gift card or something and making them think it was free, not if they really do offer free dining). ;)

if it’s possible to book 2 bounceback rooms simultaneously in your name?

from the bounceback thread:

Can I book multiple bounceback reservations or rooms?
(These specifics need to be reconfirmed for 2023).
  • Yes, you can book bouncebacks for different time periods (e.g., one in July and one in December). There is no limit to the number of different time periods you can have.
    • The limits come in the number of rooms at one time, which is 3.
  • Yes, you can book more than 1 room, up to 3 rooms at the same time, so you can travel together.
  • You may be able to place the other room in another guests' name that is *not* traveling currently with you and you can book up to 3 rooms, regardless of the number of adults traveling with you.
  • Note that if *you* (person bouncing back) need to cancel your room, theirs will be cancelled too because they are not bouncing back (you are!).
  • You can cancel the other guest's room without affecting your bounceback since *you* are the one bouncing back.
