I am looking to possibly make my Daughter a garter to "throw" at her reception. She is going to wear and keep my mom's but to throw I am looking for some material to make it from. Here is the catch and I don't know if I can find it. Does anyone live near University of Central Florida?? DD and her Fiancee both graduated from there and the majority of people attending the wedding will be College friends so I thought it would be a cute way to make a garter.

Now I don't even know if I can find any but thought I would post it here and see if anyone has ever seen it. Or does anyone know if they possibly sell them in any of the shops near UCF????

If anyone knows please let me know I would be willing to send you the $$ to purchase it for me and also to ship it up here to Pennsylvania. Anyone??:confused3

Well, I couldn't believe it, but with Google I found there are at least two websites that sell college sports-themed garters! But neither had UCF garters, only FSU and the Florida Gators.

However, this site has UCF neckties that you might be able to make into a garter - check it out: http://www.shopncaasports.com/NCAASports_UCF_Golden_Knights_Mens

And here's the other site for reference - you might want to call both sites and see if a UCF garter is something they can get: http://www.fanthefire.com/Central-Florida

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

I was a Golden Knight too and sadly, it seems our school just isn't well-known enough to have a garter already created. (Friends of mine have tried searching for them too and ended up making them out of ties.) So lurkyloo has you on the right track I think. I also found another site that has three or four different prints to chose from... http://www.footballfanatics.com/COLLEGE_UCF_Knights. Good luck! :)

I live very close to UCF. I saw your post yesterday and I just happened to be at JoAnn's yesterday and looked for you, but they didn't have any UCF fabric. I will keep my eyes open though and let you know if I do come across any. It sounds like a fun project and I'm sure your daughter would love it!

Thank you so much ladies...I knew I would get responces here. I had looked at the UCF site and the Tie crossed my mind. Add a little lace and some ribbon and I do believe it would work. I will have to get on and order one.

MadamMim when did you graduate from UCF???? DD loved it there comming from a small town in Pennsylvania she "LOVED" the big city so much to do.

Thanks again ladies and when I get it all put together I will post a picture so you all can see how it turns out.:thumbsup2

Heya. :wave2: I graduated in 2005. I was a history major with a covert minor in education. (Technically you're not allowed to minor in education, but since I did all the courses but didn't do the internship, I feel as though I earned that minor. :lmao: ) Then I packed up and moved over to Scotland for a couple Master's degrees and now I'm hoping to head down south to England for a PhD. I grew up in Florida, with an older brother who went to FSU, so being in Orlando was pretty normal for me. But your daughter is totally right; if you can't find something to do there, then you're really not trying. :goodvibes Congrats to her on her wedding!

I graduated from UCF too, and found UCF garters online. I have the website somewhere...if you are still interested in the garters let me know and Ill do some research for you. I ordered them online and got them within the week.
