Crazy Prices on Ebay!

Like many out there, I have been one to do whatever I could to build my inventory lately, especially only being on VMK for about 6 weeks. With my WDW trip not scheduled until January (can't wait), I have resorted myself at times to looking on Ebay for items such as Teleportation, or rare quest related pins. Being an old baseball card collector I want nothing more but to have the complete set of series 1 cards like most.

Yet in recent days I have been mortified by the going prices for some cards out there and was just wondering if anyone else had any interesting things they have seen out there worth mentioning, from a completely ridiculous standpoint.

The one that irked me the most was the Golder Ears Card selling for $22+, not including S&H. Is it me or do you have to be completely crazy to make such a bid. Especially when others are in the $5 range.

Oh well just venting, but since I haven't seen an Ebay craziness post on here or at least lately, I figured I would get one going.

The main concern I have with the eBay auctions is that it might cause VMK to make it more difficult to get the cards.

I wonder how many of the people auctioning the cards are cast members that help themselves to the cards. I have been watching some out of curiosity, I love eBay. (eBay Misc. board is a message board I have posted to for years) and sometimes it's the same seller selling multiples all the time. There is a timeframe as to how often you can repeat the quests, so it makes me wonder. They either have a huge family/friends network getting the cards, or something.

can't these people get in serious trouble for selling them on e-bay? i mean, i know i have been tempted but with the cards saying "virtual prizes may not be sold or transferred and have no cash value" i've never really considered selling them on e-bay.

The one that hits me is the person who is selling a set of codes that provide 1400 credits, and the locations of the Hidden Mickeys. Makes me want to write "Come to the Dis. You'll get that and more for free."

I send my used cards to a couple of people who collect trading cards. I never thought about them ending up on e-bay. When I looked at e-bay, the ones I saw said UNUSED. I wouldn't trust that! None of the ads that I saw said the code was used, but I would just bet that most of them have already been used. I don't see anything wrong with them auctioning off the used cards, since they have no VMK game value, but putting them out as unused cards is very risky for the bidders, and I believe that would definitely be against the VMK rules.

I threw away most of my cards. Others I just packaged up to mail to Malificent2.

Not my intent by originally posting this message, but if anyone has used cards they are willing to part with, I would definitely be grateful to take them off your hands as I just want the set more than anything else. I have most already but the complete set would be "magical".

As for people selling unused codes. From what I have heard through people and looking at the Ebay feedbacks, most sellers if not all have been legit to date. So I guess if there is one good thing about it, at least people are not being scammed there too. There was actually one bid I saw where the person was just selling codes to the quest cards but not the cards themselves. The message stated they would email you the bids upon completing the auction.

With the Second series only weeks away, I am sure there will be more popping up in the coming weeks.

I wonder if this is the same girl I saw offering to trade the credit codes for stuff in VMK. Once I saw her say that I said that there were also credit codes for free on the internet, and you just need to look for vmk codes and they should pop up.

Granted, she might have had a legitimate card with a one time use code, but based on how angry she got, I don't think so.

BEWARE!!

Do not buy stuff from eBay! Nevermind the fact that you can't prove if the code's been used or not...

Straight from the VMK house rules, linked from the main page:

9. Don't buy or sell accounts or items. We reserve the right to cancel any player account that was bought or sold, or player accounts that have bought or sold items.

JUST SAY NO! LOL
