Hey We just got back from "home" we wanted a short little trip with out the kids. What was I thinking about having a nice quiet trip! Way to many people at the parks and at World showcase you could not even move. One of the nights the Beach Boys, or should I say one original Beach Boy, were playing and the crowd waiting in line went on forever I never seen anything like it.We always used to go this same 2nd week of October but not anymore.

On a positive note.... We ate at Kona Cafe, LeCellier and The Brown Derby. The food was outstanding! and as always everybody at the Boardwalk ( We are vacation club members) were great. I give those cast members credit for keeping a happy face. Also, we saw to many people coming back to the hotel with alcohol I know your not suppose to but these people were fall down drunk!

Is the week after Thanksgiving any quieter? :)

Hope you managed to find a little magic despite the crowds.

Hey, I just returned from a "quick" trip to the World also... I would have to agree w/ you... I went last year during this time and it got busy during the weekend.. but nothing like this.. it was crazy busy wall to wall people like I'd expect to see in the summer (you'd never catch us there in the summer heat :sunny: ) we still managed to do it with no waits over 5 mins (except our 2nd trip on POTC-- had to see it one more time before heading home) I think as much as I love being down there for my b-day it was much nicer when we went after thanksgiving.... so yes... the week after thanksgiving was MUCH nicer the year that we went (2 yrs ago)... no crowds.... MVMCP is much better (in MHO) than MNSSHP... the decorations are up and it's not so hot... love to hear how your trip was.

I wonder if everyone is catching on to October being the quiet month and it isn't quiet anymore?

How come you can't have alcohol at the Boardwalk?

Don't forget that last Monday was the Columbus Day holiday. It seemed a little early this year, so that could be the reason for the large crowds.

We have gone twice the week after Thanksgiving and going this year. Monday (right after) was the most crowded other wise it was great and terrrific weather.

Sadly, I think quiet Octobers are a thing of the past. We usually go in October - because DD's school has a Fall Break then. I think lots of schools do.

I'll be interested to see how the crowds are when we go next week.

Wow, I was there the 3rd to the 12th of October, and the only day we found it was crowded was MK on the monday holiday. Epcot was a little busier than it was last year, but I didn't think by a lot. There was a problem with Test Track, being closed for a number of hours several times that caused people to venture out into the Worlds. Soaring is always crowded. Personally, I can't stand to wait that long for anything, so I bypass it. We caught it one night after dinner at the Garden Grill.

I certainly hope that October doesn't become a busy month. I was hoping I had found my niche.

I'm here now and it's empty. Could it be busier when you were there due to Columbus Day? Weird. We're loving it!

We went Oct. 14th-17th. There is alcohol at the Boardwalk but these people were bringing their alcohol from Epcot (Food and Wine Festival) and probably driniking all day. The lady at the gate was telling people they could not bring it out of the park. Not to much can stop me from having a good tiime at Disney but, I like to go when it is much quieter. :) :)

DD and I were discussing the use of alcohol after seeing a few people under the influence. It was a fruitful discussion, she is old enough to see people making an *** of themselves, getting loud, rude and smelly! I couldn't have shown her in any better way.

I can't understand why people need to drink to excess, how can you enjoy the magical surroundings under the influence of alcohol, not to mention the hangover the next day. Ten thousand screaming kids and a hangover :rotfl: man thats gotta hurt!

The wine festival is cool, the sample sizes are small so you can taste. Truth be told, true wine tasting is more about tasting than swallowing though.

Next topic on my petpeeve list is the dreaded SMOKERS! Beware, I am after YOU!

Well put!

Our 1st visit in Oct. (8th thru 15th), had wonderful trip but disappointed in F&W. Really long lines for a glass of vino:confused3 , do enough lines for attractions IMO. It was in the high 80/90's, not my cuppa tea to drink in the FL sun anyway. We were surprised with:

1) the "crush" of people, during our trip, especially the gridlock early Saturday afternoon.

2) number of sloppy drunks, could mistake it for Pleasure Island. How many tastings does it take to get blown out, must be pricey? Do they issue DUIs for stroller hit & run?;)

Guess it's part of the flexibility of a WDW vacation, something for everyone.

This is exactly why we stopped going in October. High crowds and crazy drunks. I think the high crowd levels are due to this is european "spring break" DH was talking to a few people in line and it seemed that europe has there school break at that time. After a few years of the crowds we changed to January vacations.

We went to WDW Oct. 27th - Nov. 1st and it really wasn't bad at all! The weather was perfect. (we just missed the big heat wave the week before) Yes, I agree World Showcase was more crowded than I'm used to seeing, but we managed OK. Most of the rides were little or no wait. Soarin' had a 30 minute stand-by time posted, but we actually walked right on. I really love going for Halloween!
