So I have a reservation for a garden view at HRH for April 28 - May 4, 2008. Booked it at rack ($279 then $294), then changed to AAA rate when they came out in October, which was $251.10 changing to $264.60 on Friday, May 2.
Last week I sent an e-mail with some specific requests to accommodate our special needs DD. Sunday, I decide to call to make certain they have updated our ressie and during this call they confirm my rate is $167.10 and changing to $176.10 on Friday. I asked the very nice young lady why the rate had changed and she had no idea, just that this was the current rate on my ressie. I asked for confirmation to be e-mailed to me.
Yesterday, with this rate change issue still on my mind, I call back and talk to another very nice person who tells me that, yes, these are the rates on my reservation and just make certain I present a photo ID at check in. . . . my airline employee ID that is!!! Since I work for a social service agency and definitely not an airline I asked her to do some further investigating because I have no airline ID to qualify for the rate. Several minutes later she comes back and very nicely tells me . . . . PSYCH. . . WE MADE A MISTAKE. . . YOU DON'T GET THAT INCREDIBLE RATE THAT WOULD HAVE SAVED YOU $575 DOLLARS!!!!!! I, of course, want to know how they made that mistake since I didn't request an airline employee rate, and didn't even know there was such an option (though, I must say, they are getting all the good rates!!!!). Nice lady, whom I now dislike tremendously, through no fault of her own, tells me that when they were downloading the information into the hotel system from reservations, they made a mistake in the coding. Further informs me that it was good I caught the error now because if I hadn't had a current airline employee id with a photo at checkin, I would have had to pay rack rate since the AAA rates would very likely be gone. I very nicely informed Miss Lady Bearing Bad News that I have, in my hot little hand, a confirmation showing my AAA rates and I most definitely would NOT be paying rack rates or any rate higher than what my confirmation guaranteed. Her kind reply, well, the rates had been changed for your confirmation number, so your confirmation would not have done any good. I'm getting angrier by the nanosecond, and realize that I'm getting upset over nothing. . no harm done, other than to my good mood, because the whole situation is hypothetical at this point, since the error was caught and none of the above will happen.
(HUGE SIGH) Can you feel my pain?? I go from an ok AAA rate, to a tremendous rate which caused my DH to literally whoop for joy and then have it ripped away. . . why I oughta. . . . . not finish that statement. Just remember, when something seems to good to be true, it probably is!
Nice going Hard Rock. . . I've not set foot on your property and you've already irritated me. I hope this isn't a harbinger of what is to come. . . . . .
