Has anyone ever used both a rental car and Mears to get to their WDW resort? Our family of 5 has a full size reserved through EA. We are hoping for a larger vehicle, but judging by recent EA observations, we might not get one! Can get all 5 of us in a full-size, but I'm not sure about all our bags, etc. Thinking that if we end up without enough space, maybe DH could take Mears and take some of the bags with him and meet us at the resort. He wouldn't mind this, as we've used Mears before with no problems. This would be much less expensive than reserving a larger vehicle.
Has anyone ever done this?

I've never done that, but I'm wondering if they'll allow it if he has too many bags. Mears counts on being able to fill every seat and being able to carry a "normal" amount of luggage for each person. He may have more luck with a cab that he can fill completely up with suitcases.

take a bunge cord with you....that is what our driver did to hold the trunk down. We are a family of 5, one of which is a 2 y/o so we had the stroller and extra clothes for her in case of an accident. Let me see, we had one suitcase for each person, and one carry on, plus our video camera, and 2 bathroom essentials bags, and the stroller...all in a Lincoln, the driver just looped the bunge throught the trunk latch and under the bumper...and away we went :)

If we did this, DH would probably just take the largest 2 suitcases and a carry-on with him on Mears. Hopefully a bigger vehicle will be available on EA. For a 10-day trip, I don't want to spend the major bucks to reserve a minivan or premium. The $204 total for a full size on EA is a good deal!

Since the ride to WDW is not that long, you may want to consider placing some of the smaller pieces of lugguage down by the passengers' feet and/or on laps. We did this once on a trip to an island where the largest cars available were intermediate-sized. We also had considered using a taxi for the extra bags but...where there is a will, there's a way. We had 3 adults, 3 children, lugguage for 6 for a week, a food cooler, and, after we stopped at a store on the way to the resort for other items, grocery bags, and we made it!
This trip there are only 3 of us: we are doing EA and arrive on the 19th. If there is a van on the aisle, we be sure to leave it for you. :D

PS: G&B, Although your names suggest that you may not be seeking out other DIS members during your trip ;), from what I have read on the boards, it seems that your trip may parallell ours. We arrive in 3 weeks at the Swan and then switch on the 22nd to AKL concierge. If you wear lime green ribbons (I haven't bought mine yet, but I will), we will look for you one morning either hiding behind or de-grumping at the Lounge's coffee maker. Dinah

dinah - looks like we'll meet! We will be at AKL concierge from June 18-24, then moving to the Swan the 24-28!! We are so excited about this trip:pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc !!
Are you doing the Sunrise Safari on the 23rd by any chance? We got in on the lower preview rate, so we're doing it.
We put lime green ribbons on the WDW backpack we carry into the parks. I won't be wearing lime green every day (not my best color!), but I'm sure we'll meet up. I'm 5'11", so if you see a tall mom with 3 kids in the concierge lounge, it's probably me :)
p.s. I'm really only a little grumpy and bashful - I was just in that mood when I made up my name for these boards!
