I have never in 45 years of attending theme parks experienced the backup I had to get into seaWorld yesterday.
We pulled off the road into the parking line at 11:15. We actually entered the park just before 1:00.
The lines to get through the parking kiosks took about 20 minutes. Then traffic stopped as all the kiosks funnel into 1 lane. Then we were able to break off to get to the preferred parking area. Which directs you to park right in front of the entrance. Nice, right? Not so much yesterday.
Because we then had to walk all the way back to the entrance to the parking lot which is where the end of the security line was.
The line proceeded up to the entrance, then turned and went 90% of the way back, turned again and returned to the entrance. Where they had only 4 scanners to walk through and 2 bag check tables.
By the time we got through that, it was a rush to the restroom for the 5yo who had been bouncing for at least 15 minutes with no restrooms available outside of the security section.
There was a minimal wait to actually get through the ticket turnstiles since they had more of them open than security.
Is this a typical scenario or was something else going on?
Park crowds didn’t seem that bad once inside. We had no trouble getting seats for shows. Food lines weren’t bad either. The only rides we did were Sesame Street rides which were reasonably short. We skipped the carousel because it looked pretty long.
