What can and can't you take on your carry on? I like to take my makeup bag and all the toiletries. Also can you take an umbrella in your carry on bag?

You need to check out the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/. There are restrictions on liquids/gels and other items you can take in a carry on bag.

The tsa restricts you to one quart size bag of liquids. Each liquid has to be 3.4 oz or smaller (the container so a 5 oz container half full will not qualify). This includes lotion, foundation, mascara, toothpaste, anything that doesn't hold it's shape outside of a container.
