We LOOVE the PB and J milkshake at 50'd PT, so I decided to try making my own at home tonight and see what the fam thinks of them.

I used Edys vanilla bean ice cream, since Edys is the only type of ice cream I see used and sold and WDW.

I tried this:

1 carton Edys vanilla bean ice cream
4-6 TBS Skippy PB
4-6 TBS Welchs grape Jelly
2-3 tsp vanilla extract
1-1.5 cup milk

First mix the vanilla, PB, Jelly, and 1/2 cup milk in the blender. Add the ice cream and blend. Add more milk as needed.

We all thought it was pretty close to 50's PT. It was a little sweeter and I put more PB into ours so it was more flavorful than PT. But, defiently taste good and something to make once in awhile when you get a craving. DS14 LOVED it, he is a big PB and J shake lover..thats all he cares about at 50's PT.

Can you get a pb&j shake without sitting down for a meal? Carry out? It sounds like I should try it.

I am going to try your recipe too. Thanks for the post.

This would be extremely dangerous for me to start doing at home!!! :rotfl2:

It's bad enough that our waitress gave us the recipe for "Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake" from Liberty Tree Tavern. If I added the PB&J shake to that....YIKES!!

BTW...if anyone wants that recipe...I'm happy to post it.

DianeW, I would LOVE the recipe for the ooey gooey cake from LTT!! Thanks in advance for posting it! :cool1:

Okey dokey! It's fairly close to what they serve, but obviously they had to adjust for home baking, so not a perfect match. All the calories are still there, however. :lmao:

LTT's Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake

Cake bottom

1 box yellow cake mix
1 egg
1 stick butter (now this is confusing, because the recipe says 1/4 cup of butter...one stick. A 1/4 cup of butter is only half a stick, a whole stick is 1/2 cup. I've always gone with the entire stick and it's turned out fine. If anyone has another recipe from LTT with that corrected, let me know which one they really mean.)

Mix ingredients and put in greased 13x9 baking pan.

Filling

8 ounces cream cheese
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup butter
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup Heath Bar pieces
1 pound powdered sugar

Put cream cheese in the mixer. Beat and then slowly add eggs and vanilla. Add butter and mix well. Add powdered sugar, mix, then add chocolate chips and toffee pieces. JUST MIX TO COMBINE, don't over mix. Put on Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake bottom in your pan. Bake at 325 for 35 minutes. (I check it after 30 minutes.)

Enjoy!!! And then run 10 miles to burn off the calories. Or walk around MK for the day. :rotfl2:

The waitress was very sweet when she gave this to us. They must get lots of requests, because it came all printed out on Magic Kingdom letterhead parchment paper. We've indulged several times since our March visit. :rolleyes1

That recipe sounds yummy! Ive never had them before, but will have to try them out at home.
Only problem with eating these yummy snacks is we are not at WDW walking several miles a day! :yay: exercise!

I have a healthy version of the PB&J shake every day.

1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen mixed berries (blue, black, rasp)
1.5 - 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
2 TB natural PB
1 cup water

Blend until mixed - you'll have a delicious and healthy milkshake.

I think I actually like my version better.
