Crappy Basketball Hoop

Was wondering how long a basketball hoop should stay in one piece - lol. We bought a Spalding basketball hoop for about $300 less than two years ago. The backboard is plexi-glass (or something similar). Well last week a big chunk fell off when the ball hit it. Needless to say over the last week about 3 more pieces came down so now the backboard is useless and the whole hoop really is no good. I know we did not save the receipt (pretty sure we bought it from Dick's Sporting Goods store). Do you think it is worth contacting the company? My husband doesn't think we should bother but I thought to not last even two years (and hoop was used alot but nothing out of the ordinary).

Go to the Spalding site and see what their warranty says. We had one before this one (not sure if it was Spalding though) someone shot at it with a BB or airsoft gun and broke it. We replaced it with a Gorilla system with the lights. My boys spend time in the evenings during summer with the neighbor's grandkids playing. Best investment ever. They do not play in the winter though.

I would wonder if it has something to do with the weather though. Under your name says MD, if that is correct, isn't it cold there? We spent money on a composite bat for our sons, our warranty specifically states if it is used in temperatures lower than 55 (I think that is the temp) it voids the warranty.
