Crane up in MK?

Can anyone who recently came back from WDW tell me about the large construction crane in MK? I just noticed it today in a photo my SS posted from her one-day trip. I'm really worried about it being in all of my castle photos (both personal and Memory Maker. I assume it's up all day?

Can anyone report if it's visible during Wishes? I've been preparing to photograph the fireworks for a year and will be really bummed out if there is a crane in the shots.

And yes, I can shoot from different angles to avoid the crane, but I was really hoping to shoot from the end of Main Street, USA at least once.

Any info or observations would be great. We'll be down there in 2 weeks.

I read in a blog post (maybe touring plans, I can't remember for sure) that the crane is there for the removal of the christmas lights. Shouldn't take too long I would think.

We were in tomorrowland during Wishes and saw the fireworks from the people mover. But here are some pictures for you. From what I could tell, when the fireworks were going on you couldn't see the crane. Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback...and nice photos!

I thought maybe the crane was part of the Seven Dwarves Mine Train construction.

I think they may still be taking down lights. I saw a bunch of random places around the castle where there were still strings of lights.
Not sure if they are doing more refurb past that. The crane was located on the backside of the castle outside of the entrance of Cinderella's royal table.

Just read on one site (not sure how reliable it is, but it seemed legit) that the crane would be up from 11:30 - 7 daily :(

The good news is Wishes won't be effected. Guess I'll have to get any other castle shots early in the day. At least the light should be better then anyway.

It was up at 9:30am ish when we arrived at park.

Its annoying, I agree.

my brother is a photo editor, so I am going to ask him to photo shop some pictures for me, so hopefully with the end results it won't be noticeable.

The reports are that the crane will be up through the end of March, from 11:30pm - 7:00pm daily. (Apparently, they're doing refurb on the castle after the lights come down.) So, there will be a brief 4 hour or so window every day where it will be down. Josh at easywdw reported today that it might be down at other times during the day, occasionally, but the 11:30pm-7pm is their working schedule.

I get why they have to do it, but man, what a bummer. My wife and I saw my SS's photo separately and both said later that the crane was the first thing we noticed.

This trip was one of my main motivators to learn photography and I've had my sights set on castle and Wishes shots. Clearly, there is much, much more to photograph and I'll still have opportunities for crane-free castle photos.

Most importantly, I'll be down there with my family in 13 days.

Eh, it will be up when I'm there but I don't think it's a big deal. They have to do construction and referbs from time to time and sometimes that means a crane will be visible.

When walking into magic kingdom a friend of mine overheard someone say, "ugh!! A crane is next to the castle!! I am so. It ok with this!" It gave is a little giggle. On another day entering though, I overheard a completely sweet thing. A dad pushing a stroller with two little girls was do excited and was talking to them. He said, "oh look!! It's snow whites castle girls!!" :)
