The construction crane is now onsite at Cinderella Castle for the removal of the castle dream lights and refurbishment work on the castle.

Work begins (sic) on January 13 and is expected to run through until the end of March 2014. Work will be taking place between 11:30pm and 7pm daily.

I don't have the slightest idea how work could take place "between" 11:30pm and 7pm daily. ;)

Maybe they meant to say "between 7pm and 11:30pm daily" -OR "between 11:30pm and 7AM daily"???

OK- Start work sometime after Wishes ends. Work straight through until 7PM, a reasonable time before Celebrate the Magic and Wishes again.

OH NO!! Disney has ruined my vacation!!!

(Thought I would start it off right) ;)

The WDWMagic forum admin says that 11:30PM to 7:00PM is correct.

Wow! They're going to work on this 19.5 hours per day! If they used work ethic like that for everything, we'd all be taking mine train rides by now.

Maybe they start up at 11:30 pm, and then end at 7 pm. Taking off for 4 1/2 hours before starting again.

I'd bet they meant 11:30 pm-7 a.m. though. Disney usually works overnight out of sight of guests.

I also edited my post. The WDWMagic forum admin says the hours are correct as posted (11:30PM to 7:00PM).

Maybe they are in the TWILIGHT time ZONE. ;)

So where exactly is this crane near the castle? Is there a picture somewhere so I can see how much Disney is going to mess up my castle pictures? ;)

It's right next to the castle.
It sits on the Fantasyland side of the castle and is sometimes "up" and
sometimes lowered out-of-sight during the day.

It makes it sound like they are working 24 hours a day except for the time fireworks would going on.

Yes. I was adding that to previous posts at the same time as you were posting.

I've got to learn to TYPE FASTER!

I hate to be "that guy" but...

maybe it's not worth putting up those lights if it takes 2 months to put them up and another 2 months to take them down.

I believe it usually only take a week or two to put them up and take them down. This 2 month work includes "refurbishment work on the castle".

Correct.
However, in the case of many major Christmas light displays,
they can take literally MONTHS to mount and months to remove.
Every year.

Cases in point:
The Osborne Lights in DHS take months to go up and down.

The famous "PLaza Lights" on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City HERE
(reputed, when they were first introduced, to be the first known strings of electric Christmas lights displayed outdoors)
take about 4-5 months to put up and another 4-5 months to remove.
That leaves only a very few months (2-4) when the lights are all actually "down."

Hmmm...that's two years for me without a crane free trip. I suppose that's the nature of the (Jan/Feb) beast! :confused3 :lmao:
