Cranberry & Pineapple Continued.....Again.

I just wanted to check in with you guys. We went to the funeral in Texas and were going to leave later this morning but we got an unexpected early call from Stacey's DH and that Tyler was throwing up, diarrea and very lethargic. He rushed him to the Emergency room and was admitted. We quickly got up and had to drive home from Texas. We were all emotionally drained from the funeral and now scared for Tyler and we were no where close to home. We got home around 2:00 today and up to the hospital. They said he has a virus and pneumonia. He will be staying a couple of nights because his white blood cells, platelets, and oxygen level is really low. They have him on oxygen and IV. They are doing more tests tomorrow. My mom is staying at the hospital tonight with my sister and then I will be back up there to relieve them tomorrow. Joey is with their other grandma because she can't come to the hospital because she is too young.

Will keep you updated. Love to all.

Selena - Thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers. Hugs.

I'm sorry Heidi, I hope he is doing better soon!

Selena, I hope everything is okay.

Heidi and Sandy, I hope Tyler starts feeling better soon. :grouphug: I missed that y'all were going to a funeral?

Thanks Cristi and Marcie.

Marcie - We had to go to a funeral of a really good friend down in Hereford, TX. It is outside of Amarillo.

Congrats to Erik!!!! That is great news.

Tyler is about the same. He has more coloring in his face. He is still struggling with the oxygen when he is awake but when he is sleeping his oxygen levels have been consistent. He is still sleeping about 95% of the day. He was more alert today and talked a little bit and got a little grumpy with the nurse which was good news!!! Hoping tomorrow is a better day for him.

I went to work this morning. With him sleeping all the time I decided to go to work and visit him afterwards.

Selena - Sorry I didn't respond to your text last night, I tried to go to bed! What caused this was just him getting a cold. My sister's family kept passing it around amongst each other and he got hit hard and his body just can't handle it. Joey is also sick right now too so they are keeping a close eye on her hoping she doesn't get the same way. What is so scary to us is that when he gets sick he usually has seizures when he is sick but he hasn't had one seizure. He is going on 2 weeks without having a seizure. We keep expecting it but it never happens. My sister asked the neurologist why and she said it could be the magical age and he outgrew it, it could be that he is in perfect ketosis, or that he is just at his limit. When he gets better it will be very interesting to see what type of seizures he has.

Just stopping by to say hello. I know Heidi has told you all about what we are going through. It's so hard to see they little guy sleeping all the time and when he does wake up, he doesn't have the strengh to sit, stand or even talk. He stays awake a minute or two and goes back to sleep. Once a day, he seems to be able to stay awake about 45 minutes but doesn't have the strength to do anything. We are all an emotional wreck.

Hope everyone here is doing ok. Hugs.

I want both, Heidi and Sandy to know you are ALL in my prayers. I am so very sorry all of this is happening. I wish I could make sweet Tyler better. The poor baby has had it so hard. Love you guys and if I can do ANYTHING let me know.

Selena - Thanks so much. It is so nice to know we have such amazing friends that are keeping us in their prayers. We love you!

Tyler woke up for a little bit last night before we left. He went potty and walked back (with help) to the bed. While he was walking he asked "Where's Grandpa?" and then he asked me why I was in my jammies. It was so good to hear him talking a little bit. Grandpa made him smile a few times last night and it was so good to see that. What made my night was that he reached out for me and wanted me to hold him. I was very excited because he hasn't wanted anything to do with me, only grandma. Yesterday the doctors freaked Stacey out and said that the reason he might not be having seizures is because he could be bleeding in the brain, but thankfully his bruises are going away and I guess that is a good sign that there isn't any blood in the brain. He also started his antibiotics for the pneumonia yesterday. He looked better yesterday and stayed awake a lot longer. I hope today is an even better day. I won't be able to see him today because I have to go spend the night at my sister's house to watch Joey tonight and tomorrow.

I got on the thread just now and Stacey called. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Tyler had a seizure. It was a normal seizure for him. Probably means no bleeding on the brain and perhaps he's getting better. His medical team happened to be in the room at the time.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

Thankfully Tyler was released from the hospital Saturday night and was able to come home on oxygen. I was lucky enough to be at my sister's house when they surprised Joey with Tyler coming home. She thought he was coming home the next day and then Tyler busted through the doors and said hello. Joey quickly jumped off my lap and said "that's my brother" and she ran over to him. Then they just stared at each other until Stacey said that she could give him a hug. I think she didn't know what to do since he had the oxygen on him. She was excited. Then I spent all day doing laundry yesterday, 8 loads....yuck!

Tyler went into the Doctor today. They kept him on oxygen for another week. He can go off of it for short times. He was off while eating lunch here and that was enough, he had to catch a short nap.

This is a good day.....we have SUN!!

Hey guys. I wanted to do a quick drive by and see how everyone is doing.

I think it is great news that Tyler is home. Your entire family has been in my prayers. I love you guys.

Life here is so confusing. I am trying really hard to make some decisions but I do not like making decisions.

Love to all.

Has anyone done Zumba? My BFF and I are attempting that tonight at the gym.

Good grief, another school shooting in the neighborhood. At least no deaths. It's like de ja vu all over again but in a reduced manner. I can hear the helicopters but not tons of them like I did for Columbine. Stacey and Heidi went to that school for a year before their new school opened. My brother lives a stones throw away from it. When I first heard about it, my heart stopped. I thought it was Rachel's school but then took a deep breath and realized it wasn't.

Heidi, I have heard the term but know nothing about it. I can't wait to hear from you. I hope you guys don't act out and get kicked out....:)

I LOVE Zumba!!!! It was so much fun, I have never had as much fun shaking my booty! It is basically salsa dancing and belly dancing at a fast pace. We even got to do the Shakira dance! So much fun, can't wait to go back. It was packed, definitely a popular class.

I cannot believe there was another school shooting so close to us. My prayers go out to the family of the victim that is in critical condition.
