Cranberry & Pineapple Continued.....Again.

Sandy I am glad it all worked out and it is good to see your post.

Well I am ready to leave. I have packed. Mac is packed. All we have to do is put everything in the car. We both have a large suitcase full. I really do not have many clothes. Half of what is in my bag is other stuff. I decided to take an extra suitcase just for the water, gatorade and energy drinks. I am going to put everything in my car then once we are at the hotel fill up that suitcase. If I do it before there is no way I could lift it out of my car. As it is now, it is going to take the both of us to get the 2 large suitcases out of my trunk. Tomorrow morning all we will have to go is get dressed, fix the cooler and leave. Woo I am finally totally over the moon excited now.

I am going to have my blackberry on data off so I will not have any access to the internet. Actually that is already done. I can switch it to only when roaming and will do that once in Florida then switch it back once we board. I don't want to take any chances at having a huge cell bill.

Jeff called the Hilton for me. I am using his points and everything was in his name. We did put in the notes when we did the reservations online that he would not be the one checking in it would be me. Thank goodness we called because they had to do all these changes. It would not have been the way I needed to spend my afternoon after driving 9 hours! If I do not post anymore, I will see you guys soon.

Cristi, Marcie and Jrsy, you are responsible for the thread in Sandy, Heidi and my absences. Post!!

Love to all.

Bye Selena, have a great time. Four more weeks until my cruise. Yippee! I will need a vacation after this vacation. LOL We have done so much walking that my ankle is acting up. Not bad but I sure can feel it. I decided not to go on a hike today. I have done it before and it is very strenuous and straight up but the end result is breathtaking. Heidi and Chris might go horseback riding today. Yesterday we went canoeing where moose frequent. Did we see one? Nah, we just don't have the luck. Our neighbor at the campground saw one there right at the dock a couple of days ago.

The weather here is not normal just like in Colorado. We have been in blue jeans since arriving. It is chilly and windy. It's not stopping us though. Just have to put up the the wind.

We are leaving Canada on Wednesday morning. We will probably get home late Thursday.

Hope everyone is doing well. Sending big hugs.

We were really hoping to see one in Yellowstone but didn't. Then I was reading about one wandering around somewhere near Boulder. Wrong place, wrong time...

What better way to make your kid spend one of his last days of freedom before school starts than by dragging him up not one, but two fourteeners in the same day? We spent yesterday summiting Grays Peak and Torreys Peak; I should have a link to some photos after lunch today.

And here is the link to the photos.

Gosh, it is lonely here...

Hopefully somebody will see this link and appreciate it:

We're home! Got home yesterday. Tired and stinky. Couldn't wait for our shower! Thanks Jrsy for keeping the thread going!

Loved your pictures. Your first family photo on top of the 14'er was awesome. Wow, not one but two in one day. Way to go to all three of you!

Hi guys, finally things have called down so I could check in. Had a great time. I posted some pictures on FB is anyone wants to check them out.

Jrsy - loved the fourteeners pics. How many have you guys hiked?

Marcie - How was Vegas?

Selena - I hope you enjoyed your cruise. Did you ever get the bag from Perfect Gift? How was the cruise?

Cristi - Is Rachel feeling any better? Is her summer job almost over?

Back to work again! Everyone at work has swarmed me and I can't even begin to get caught up because they all want to talk! lol

Tammy and I have done three, Alex has done just the two.

Loved your Yellowstone photos. So where was the swimming hole in the Boiling River? We also saw that herd of elk in Mammoth; must be their hangout like in Estes Park.

You were so close to the swimming hole when you guys took your picture at the 45th Parallel sign. Here are the directions I used:

To get to the Boiling River, drive north from Mammoth Hot Springs or south from Gardiner, Montana. At the boundary between Montana and Wyoming - and just south of the 45th Parallel - you will see parking areas on both sides of the highway. The parking areas are about a mile north of the Mammoth Hot Springs campground. The Park Service doesn’t go out of its way to publicize the Boiling River and there aren’t any signs from the main highway. However, the area is easy to find if you watch for the Montana-Wyoming boundary.

If space is available, you’ll want to park in the eastern lot; the trail to Boiling River starts at the south end of the parking area; a large sign marks the trailhead. There are no changing facilities at the Boiling River, so change into your swimsuit in your car or in the outhouse at the parking area.

The walk from the parking lot is an easy 10 minute jaunt south down Gardner Canyon. You’ll follow an easy, level trail down the western shore of the Gardner River. After about a half mile, the Boiling River emerges and you’ll see the swimming area.

Yep, we went right past it. I remember seeing people in the river and on the trail and the parking lots right by the bridge, I think. There was also a big swimming spot near Firehole Canyon. We packed swimsuits but decided to pass on swimming in the river after reading some of the warnings.

We saw firehole but didn't swim there because there was a lot of people and parking was insane! We saw the warning but thankfully nothing happened to us.

I have to admit that I was a tad nervous at the Boiling River. The current was pretty strong but the warm/hot/cold water was perfect to soak an old, tired body in:) Firehole was absolutely crazy. Looked like fun but good grief the danger just from parking your car and getting there was ridiculous.

Yeah, it was bad when we passed there, too. Nothing has happened yet...wait 'til the tail starts growing. Actually, as adults you can be responsible enough not to drink the water and ingest who knows what but with a 12-year-old along, our priorities were a little different. I'd feel really bad if something happened to Alex. As it was, Tammy kept pulling him away from what she thought was too close to the edge so many places we went.

I probably would have done the same thing, I kept telling everyone...do not dunk your head under the water! :rotfl2: The current was pretty strong in the Gardiner river and walking to the hot spring was a little tough maneuvering the rocks, but I say it was definitely worth it. When we first got in I fell on a rock and my shoe went floating down. :lmao: Thankfully my mom or dad grabbed it for me.

Umm, Heidi. I was the rescue ranger of your shoe! I saw it floating down and thought my goodness that looks like Heidi's shoe. LOL

Hey everyone, welcome back, Sandy & Heidi. I loved the pics on FB. Things got quiet around here, but work has been really hectic so I've been trying to get a lot done. Vegas, well, was Vegas. :lmao: I think I'm addicted to it. I didn't get much sleep this time, but had a blast. We ate at Serendipity 3, it just opened this year, they have the most delicious frozen hot chocolate. Of course we did Chippendales and Kahunaville, those are a must every trip. :thumbsup2 Oh, I got called on stage at Chippendales, that was fun, and I caught one of the guys shirts that he threw out. I am going back in September, finally talked Beth & Theresa to go to the concert with me.
