Sunday, August 17th
We got up early (ok early for me) since we were checking out of HoJo’s and we wanted to eat at our favorite breakfast place (Mimi’s Café) one last time. By 8:00am we were checked out at HoJo’s since our towncar was picking us up at 8:15. To our surprise, there was a ton of Diser’s that had reserved a bus waiting outside as well. I can’t believe how many there were!!! Luckily for us, we were picked up before them. Our driver picked us up on time and stopped at a liquor store for us to pick up my favorite bottle of rum to bring onboard.
When we arrived at the port, I noticed it was very different from Pt. Canaveral. There was nobody checking ID’s and no real security. When we stepped out of the car, the chaos began. Not only were there people that were trying to get their luggage onboard, but there were still people fighting to get their luggage off as they just got off the ship. Porters were very hard to come by and you could tell they were stressed out. Thankfully it didn’t take long to get one, but I was afraid our luggage might get mixed up with the people leaving and never get onboard. Thankfully they made it on!
Up to the terminal we go. We were the second couple in line at the
Castaway Club check-in. We met some new friends in line and after an hour the check-in was open.
After checking in, we were ushered to another part of the terminal that didn’t allow cameras. They had live music for us as we waited another 2 hours before boarding. I think we started to board at 12:00. We embarked and stepped foot onto…deck, er. agh 4???!!! Why deck 4?? Kind of threw me off as we were so use to boarding on deck 3!!!! They announced us as the Newlywed Honeymooners and everyone clapped and cheered loudly. We ran downstairs to Rockin D Bar to get Palo Brunch reservations and to see if our wishes were granted and we would be at a table b ourselves. No such luck, but they told us if we switched to late seating they could find us a table. We decided since it was our Honeymoon and we really wanted to eat together by ourselves that we would agree and take the 8:30 dining. This seating has its pros and cons we discovered later on through the cruise. After getting everything done, off we went to Topsiders to enjoy the buffet and the view sitting outside and enjoying our meal. It was great, but kind of annoying because the waitstaff was constantly circling asking if you want to purchase their wine, beer or water package. This is the worst I have ever experience with them constantly hounding you, so we ate quickly and went down to deck 4 waiting for our room to be ready.
Here they are loading food:
On deck 4 we watched all the helicopter and boat tours they had going by the ship and we saw a sea lion (unfortunately we did not get a picture).
We also got our Honeymoon button:
By this time it is now 1:30 and we could go into our room. When I first walked in I saw:
And blindly walked by:
I was so surprised Chris even knew you could do this. What a nice surprise to see flowers, champagne, fruit, cheese and crackers
After the dreaded mandatory drill, it was time to celebrate at the deck party as we sailed away.
Here is the best band Disney has ever had on, they were the Leonard Brothers:
More pictures as we sail away. At the Port they were having a festival of tall ships so it was a lot of fun to see.
This was the first sailaway party I have gone too, and I must admit it was a lot of fun.
After the party we met our room Host named Derrick and at dinner we met our wait staff. Assistant Server was Mikki, Server was Raphael, and Head Server was Fitz.
That was all for this day.
