Cranberry or Pineapple??

I took a half day yesterday so I could attend Alex's 5th grade "continuation." I'd been iffy about going until we learned that he'd be receiving a Presidential Award.

Let me say first, though, that whoever invented the "multi-purpose room" should be forced to spend the afterlife sitting in one. It was too small for all of the parents, poorly ventilated and the chairs were uncomfortable. The things we do for our kids...:sad2:

So, anyway, each of the three fifth grade classes started with a musical performance. I just shot a clip of the one Alex was in. You can see him for a second before he gets swallowed up by the crowd:

Next, the fifth graders were called up one at a time to receive a "Certificate of Completion." They guy in the jacket & tie is Alex's teacher, Mr. A, who probably only wears a tie to school once a year:

Finally, there was the presentation of the President's Awards which was really an award for Outstanding Academic Excellence presented under the President's Education Awards Program. I wish I could remember all of the criteria, including GPA and MAP scores, that they had to meet through both 4th and 5th grade to receive the award. None of the kids knew they were getting these awards until their names were called. You can see how excited Alex was:

I ended up shooting the videos instead of photos because the lighting didn't allow for decent photos on my camera.

Congrats to Alex!!!!

I went to the school play last night. Aerial wasn't in it but her bff was and she asked me to go. I am so glad I went too because her parents didn't even go. She asked me for a ride home, and ended up spending the night at my house but when I brought her by her house to get clothes her parents were there. It made me sad, and happy that I went to support her.

I still am having a minor case of blahs. Like I could cry at a hallmark commercial. :rotfl2: One of my co-workers Uncle had a massive heart attack at work yesterday and they still don't know if he's going to recover. It brought back the feeling of not knowning with my Dad. I am also friends with the man's step-daughter who has been devastated. It's just sad how there are never any guarantees in life. :sad1:

CONGRATULATIONS ALEX !!!

Marcie, I have those days sometimes, too. I don't even know why! You are such a sweetheart to support Aerial's bff! What horrible parents she has. How could they feel good about themselves?????? I know you feelings about the heart attack. Tha'ts what took my mom. The sudden deaths are the hardest I think.

It is a very cold dreary day for Memorial Day. Usually I get my first sunburn.....but not this year!

Happy Memorial day everyone! The thread has been so quiet I guess everyone is having a great long weekend.

Here's my weekend:

Friday during my day of the blah's I found out that the guy I have been seeing decided to cancel the weekend here and stay in Houston. He didn't give me much of an explanation as to why,so as they say "whatever will be will be". One of my good friends took me out Friday night and would not let me sit home and feel sorry for myself. I am blessed to have my friends. :goodvibes Saturday I stayed home all day, Aerial's bff spent the night and i brought them to rent movies then I went to my neighbors and we had steaks on the grill. (I ate way too much) Come to think of it I ate way too much most of this weekend. :confused3 :lmao: Yesterday we all went to the beach, it was packed. I had a great time and came home with only one leg sunburned, so I am getting better at applying sunscreen, or maybe just getting a base tan and not going to burn much more this summer. I got invited to a bbq today, but decided I had way too much fun this weekend and wanted a quiet day before going back to work, so I cleaned my house and cooked a nice dinner for Aerial and me. It sure makes for a better work week when I have time to regroup.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Marcie, wish we could have gone to a beach. Nasty cold rainy day. Not any fun. I, too, ate too much this weekend. Ok, and drank too much with Heidi.

Good morning all. Had a very interesting Thursday. A huge tornado hit up North, right by where the girls go to school and live. We couldn't get a hold of them and all we knew was the school was on lockdown. After a few scared tears, we heard from their mom that they were okay. We talked to the girls and they were explaining everything that happened to us. They had baseball size hail that broke the schools windows. They said everyone was crying and screaming. They lost power at their home for a few days but they have it back now. The girls birthday was Friday, they turned 11!!!! They had a sleepover and were really excited!!

The weekend was good. I was excited to sleep in and see my sister and niece and nephew. Got to see how jealous Joey and Tyler are when it comes to their Heidi and grandma and other kids playing with them!

Congrats to Alex, that is great! I will have to see the video at home since I can't access that site here at work.

Marcie - I am so jealous you got to go to beach!! Hang in there, don't give up. Having the blah's is sometimes hard to get out of....but we can help you!

Saturday night my mom, dad, Chris and I drank a little too much and had a fun time playing games!!! It was a blast! Yesterday, Chris announced that he knows what he is getting me for my birthday. So we went shopping and found a video camera that we really like. Thank goodness for the stimulus check. We decided it was my birthday gift and our wedding gift to each other!!! And I can actually say that I am getting married NEXT week!!!

POOL PARTY at Jrsy's house! He just filled it and I am inviting everyone. LOL

Yay pool party, I can show off my tan.
It's around 50 degrees and overcast; if you guys want to go swimming, have fun!

I am in for the beach party.

We went to the Outer Banks on Saturday and came home on Monday. Traffic was hardly anything. I do believe the prices of gas is affect pleasure time.

I am unsure where I left so I will start again with lunch. Quick replay...

We were on the ship by 11:30 and on the Lido for lunch very quickly. Not many people were waiting to board and we were on directly after the Weddings ( they had a crazy amount of weddings .. 6) and the VIP guest.
We decided to sit outside by between the pool and the outside buffet line. The outside buffet line has hanburgers and hotdogs. Jeff stayed at the table so Mac and I could get food. I went to the left and the line was not ready so I went on over to the right side and grab a small something and headed to the back for a Rueben sandwich from the grill. It took me forever. Mac was beside me at the pizza place which is next to the grill in the back of the ship on the lido which is located at the back of the buffet.
Finally made it back to Jeff. He had a bucket of beer ordered. Yummy. I had actually decided to buy one of the Drink of the Days but did not see the point when we had several beers on ice needing my attention.
Lunch was good but nothing to rave about. I was a bit disappointed in my sandwich which was probably a good thing. That way I would not eat too many of them.

We sat there for a bit and the Social Director was up on stage having a good time. A lot of questions and ships of sticks were given out. Ships on sticks are 24K gold plastic Ships on a stick. lol It is similar to a trophy. You win them by answeirng guestions or playing games. I wanted to stay there a bit because the weather was great. Finally Mac talked us into getting up and walking. We checked into our room and dropped off the carryons and headed out to explore the ship. The Sensation is dominated by the color purple. It ia bit gaudy but it was fun. It kind of reminds me of something out to the early 70's.

We found Club O2 for MacKenzie. I did take a short nap prior to the muster drill. The muster drill was at 4 and it was a waste of time. It was so loud at our station that you could not hear and then the ship took sail before muster was over. I love sailing out of PC. However, we missed a lot of it. We ran the lifejackets to the room and went to find a place to see the rest of sail away. We tried the adult area but it was not a good place for the view. In the back of the buffet you can go outside which is the very back of the ship. They have tables and chairs there that you can use for dining. We ran down there and tried to enjoy the view. Mac and Jeff went to the bar and bought drinks while I waited. The lady next to me struck up a conversation about cruisin. She was very nice but I wanted to watch the sailaway from Cocoa Beach. I love waiting it and I did not get to. I was a bit disappointed.

We had the early 6:00 dinner setting. After sailaway we had to run to the room to get dressed. When we got to the diningroom everyone was there but us.

I forgot to put earlier the luggage didnot come until right before muster. I was a bit paranoid. I quickly unpacked us so when we came back from muster we were able to dress quickly and head to the diningroom.

Dinner was OK. Once again nothing to write home about but it was good. Just not outstanding. Jeff had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. It made me wish I had ordered it. Mac had the Salmon and I had a tilapia dish. We started with apps and salad. For dessert we had the Warm Chocolate Melting Cake and a cappaicino.

I was feeling just fine until I went to the room and then I felt sick. Not horrible sick just a bit. Jeff ran down to get me some seasick meds. He said a lot of people were sick and bark bags were everywhere. I stayed in and went to sleep and Jeff and Mac went to the show. After the show Mac went to the Teen CLub O2 and we stayed in. I think Jeff was a bit disappointed but ... Anyway Mac had a curfew of 12. It was all I could do to stay up for her to come back to the room. I felt much better once she was in the room. I made sure she took her medicine and we all were for bed.

Selena - your TR is making me hungry this morning!!! Purple is my favorite color, I would have LOVED that ship!!!

It is MacKenzie's favorite color too!! I told Mac and she was very excited about it.:) I did not tell Jeff until we were walking to the terminal..oh by the way honey the ship is purple. :rotfl: He looks at me and says it does not look purple to him. :rotfl2: Mac and I both had a good laugh on that one.:lmao:

One time she had purchased a "Pink" jacket from Victoria's Secret which was the color off white. She came home and told her daddy do you like my Pink jacket? :lmao: We still have good laughs over that so when Jeff said that about the Purple I really thought we were going to wet our pants laughing at him. Like I said he stayed a bit upset at us for all of our inside jokes. I think he felt left out.

Poor Jeff!! My mom and I have inside jokes too and I think sometimes Chris and my dad get a little aggravated at us.

My coworkers through a suprise Bridal Shower for me today at lunch. My boss emailed everyone stating that there was a mandatory meeting at 11:00. Of course I was whining because that is our lunch time and we usually eat together and I was hungry! I am an early person so I arrived about 2 minutes early, to find the conference room door locked and the window covered. I jiggled the handle, but at the bottom of the window I could see my boss's shirt so I knocked on the window. My coworker opened the door and saw it was me and slammed the door. This is when I knew something was up. I sat there stunned that my coworker slammed the door in my face before I knocked again. Then I heard someone say, "just let her in, she knows something is up now." They opened the door for me and I walked in to see lots and lots of bright pink things. Pink plates, silverware, decorations, balloons, etc. So cute. Everybody provided different things and it was a lunch potluck. We had a lot of fun. After opening up gifts, some of my coworkers made me my rehearsal bouquet out of the ribbon and napkins.

I got a lot of cute stuff off my registry. It was so sweet of them.

Purple ship???? Oh my. Love reading about other ships.

Ya, the guys get a little upset with Heidi and I but we don't care. We just keep going.
