Anyone else seeing more no-shows or even people not returning calls?
Like when they email you that they DO want your item, they give you a phone number wanting your item, but then don't return the call?
Its so annoying! I used to love CL but now I'm not so sure. Or maybe its just the Christmas season craziness?

I think people are just extra-busy this time of year. It doesn't excuse being rude, though. I'm having pretty good luck this weekend, I've sold 3 things and got an email from somebody else saying they want to buy my big item. I really hope they come through, we need it out of here.

I actually had the hardest with some one that posted an ad in the paper for an apartment to rent. After trying to meet up with her three times, I said forget it. First time she didn't make it to the apartment like she was planning on, second time she forgot my number, third time she never called me. She never even gave me full directions to the place.

There's always going to be a few in the bunch... don't let it get to you. Hopefully some one will come around.

Yes. We had an ad a while ago. It was awful. People send multiple emails saying they are really interested. Then you give them your phone number to make the appointment and don't call. Or make an appointment and don't show. We still have our items. Want to sell them really bad. But not wanting to deal with it again.

I have the opposite problem. I emailed someone about their item and they never replied back.

I agree! I have loved CL in the past but lately, I'm not sure it's worth it. I did have one great experience w/another mom that I sold my extra DS too. Otherwise, I have had people send borderline rude emails wanting the stuff, no replies and just odd responses.

As a seller, if I get a ton of replies for an item, I don't always respond to all. I also don't reply if they just say yes & a number. I have tried to sell at cost an extra ZhuZhu instead of just returning it to help someone out. After a handful of no replies to my response to them and many others that don't sound friendly or may be resellers, I think I'll just take it back & save the hassle.

I just told DH today that I just want to donate the stuff in our garage. I listed a handful of the best stuff last weekend & have had no takers so I don't hold much hope. I'd like the extra money, but time is money too and it would be nice to get that space back.

Glad I'm not the only one, but sorry y'all are having issues, too!

Do you think people want us to reply so they can infect us with a virus or get our IP or something other sinsiter-ish? Sure don't want to think that but my BIL said something like that at Thanksgiving! :confused3

And I KWYM about the Zhu Zhu! I listed some brand new stuff that people DO want, same as you, to help them out instead of taking it back, and it still happens! And my pictures clearly show they're brand new. I just don't get it!! :confused3

I have found that a honest account of the item[the desk has red nail polish on it], show a pic of the damage and a couple of suggestions of how the item could be used. And most important a phone!! If you can instantly get to a item, it is easier to hop in the car and go get it.

And holidays just do make a difference, because people get busy and e-mail is too slow for them!!

So far, for me, it's been about the same this time of year. I have a few portable kerosene heaters for sale and I've responded by email and phone to a few. Sold one the other night. The buyer took longer to get here than she thought but she did call and she bought the heater without trying to get the price down! :goodvibes A nice profit for my DSis and I to share. She buys the items and I list them and handle the sale. We split the profit.;)

I haven't sold a bunch of things on craigslist but I've been happy with what I've sold. What's been nice for me is usually the buyers don't try to lower the price. They simply hand over the cash. :cloud9: Some of my items have been NIB others have been used. My DM has been surprised by some of the things I have sold-items she was ready to throw away and/or donate. I found that asking $50 for used items in good condition, has been a good price point (crib, twin water bed, etc.)

I just sold some Christmas stuff on Craigslist and whenever I had someone say they would come out I would tell them to come on, but I wouldn't look for them or get my hopes up, not until someone pulled up in my drive.
