What about bead ornaments in the shape of a Mickey head?
I haven't done this shape but I have done candy canes, wreaths and snow flakes.
Directions:
You use pipe cleaners and any bead that can slip on to the pipe cleaner. For a Mickey Head, I would use a black pipe cleaner, slip on black beads filling it about halfway...centered. Twist the pipe cleaner to make the beaded loop, leaving the ends free. Slip on additional black beads, leaving approx 1/2 inch empty on the end. (Do this on both free ends.) Loop each beaded-end section to form an ear for Mickey's head and wrap the 1/2 inch to secure. Use thin ribbon to tie a loop to hang by.
Pipe cleaner type doesn't really matter but you want the ones about 12 inches in length.
Bead type doesn't really matter unless you want a specific look. I've used round beads, tri-beads, beads that appear to interlock....You want "craft" beads not "jewelry" beads. Usually plastic or glass.
I will think more about this and see if I can think of other possibilities. Is there anything besides Mickey related that you would want to incorporate--ie. Halloween, Christmas, your home state....?
Good Luck with your projects.
