Cracking down on outside food?

In case anyone is still nervous about bringing food into the park, we just got back from 3 days at MK and DAK and brought a backpack full of food and drinks in with us: sandwiches, chips, oranges, snack cakes. We had no issues and the security CM that checked our bags laughed when he opened our lunch bag and asked if we had any Oreos for him. :)

I'd imagine this will be an added security measure or a way to get people to pay more disguised as an added security measure (just being cynical.)

I can't see them doing away with outside food all together. What about dietary restrictions, etc.? What if you wanna buy a grab-and-go sandwich from the QS at your resort or bring in a bottle of Diet coke? Or your mug? It's def. gonna be to restrict people from bringing huge coolers.

The coolers could be annoying to search and are certainly considered a bag. Eliminating coolers can and will increase security and quicken lines. Look at the NFL. They don't allow bags - any bags. You have to bring everything in a clear bag and even then there's added restrictions. It could be worse.

The snacks we bring in are high-protein items we cannot get in the parks. Also, we bring in canned sodas because I don't like the taste of fountain drinks. If we were not allowed to do this, we simply would not be able to visit as often, so Disney would not benefit in the long run. I like the comments from guests who point out that they are saving time in the parks (not just money) by eating their own snacks--we employ this stategy also. Quick service isn't always quick. We also get tired of the Disney taste and just want something different, although that has improved in recent years. There was a time in Disneyland when it was almost impossible to get anything other than a hamburger or a hotdog. We were saved when they built Bengal Barbecue and we could get polynesian chicken skewers. That said, we don't bring in anything other than snacks and sodas/water. And it isn't just the $3 for water, it's the brand. Can't stand the brand they offer--I drink Aquafina.

Keeping in mind it's a rumor, I'll answer the question the original poster posed. No, it wouldn't matter to me and no it wouldn't impact my vacation. Before anyone accuses me of being elitist, we've been going to WDW since my son was 3 and I was a single mother. I was a secretary and worked on the Saturdays his father bothered to take him for extra money. We went to WDW every other year since it took me two years to save for it. I didn't get child support and live in a college town so pay is low here for jobs like office work since you can get a college kid cheap. Now, I said all that to say, we never brought food into the park, it was my choice to buy food there. I'm a healthy eater and eat small meals about every 3 hours and have never had any problems finding healthy food in the parks. My son was allergic to dairy long before it was recognized, I had no problems finding things for him to eat and he was a toddler, I never had problems finding a healthy snack for him. My niece is diabetic, she has to do the whole shots and count her carbs thing, we have never had a problem finding things for her to eat in the parks. Again, I choose not to bring food into the parks, it's just too much of a pain for me to carry around things and, yes, I'm on vacation and I had to pinch pennies at home, vacation was my time to splurg.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion/viewpoint, but I spend over $50 per day to get in, ride rides and see attractions. I'm not going to spend my time in the parks trying to find something acceptable to eat when I can bring in a perfect snack. Again, it is sometimes about time rather than money. We usually have one TS meal every other day, and one QS or food court meal on the off days.
