Cracker Barrel Alternative to Zhu Zhus

My grandson 12 yrs old has one of these and they are adorable. I was planning on buying the younger grands some for Christmas. I should of bought them a few weeks ago while there didn't think about them running out.

My youngest daughter wanted a hamster for Christmas. I HATE hampsters/mice. My oldest daughter bought my yougest daughter the one from cracker barrel for Christmas. It is about the same size as a real hampster so she'll be happy and I'll be happy that it's not real. She got it for her early November and it was nice to not try and have to track down the zhu zhu pet which would have been another alternative.

DS has one of these and calls it his Zhu Zhu Pet. He has had it for a long time and it is still going strong, although the ball is not fitting together as snugly as it used to. Little does he know the Zhu Zhus are under the tree.

Thanks for posting this! I haven't been able to find the Zhu Zhu pets around but I walked into my Cracker Barrel and bought both for under $20.

I actually think these are much CUTER than Zhu Zhus!!! Does anybody know if they will work with the funhouse etc made for zhu zhus?

I would think they would, they just will not make all the noises and such. I can let you know after Christmas...although I am sure that does not help.

May I suggest that if you just cannot find anything zhu zhu or zhu zhu-resembling, that you try just getting a weasel ball. When I was little they kept up my interest for awhile, and that might buy you some time while you try finding the real thing Cracker Barrel, Walmart, and a few other places sell them. I'm not sure I understand the entire fake hamster craze, but whatever makes kids this excited must be a good thing

We were at Cracker Barrel yesterday and my 4 year old was jumping up and down saying "look mom, it's a zhu zhu pet". I didn't even know she knew about them. I ended up buying her one as she's not old enough to know the difference!

I picked one up at CB yesterday while we were there for breakfast. MY GD just loves this. Also the cats found this pretty interesting also.
