Crabs in our swimming pool - BIG UPDATE!!! #76

We had crabs in our swimming pool this morning. How on earth did that happen? We do live by a lake, but it's way down the hill, and as far as I know, there are no crabs in that lake. These looked like salt-water crabs anyway. There were three of them, two in the pool, and one up on the deck, about the size of a 50 cent piece. We do have a salt-water pool, but where on earth did they come from???

Crabs??? I used to find frogs, but I can honestly say, I've never had crabs.

And yes, we swim at night frequently - boy wouldn't that have been a surprise. DH found them while he was actually swimming this morning.

We get the frogs too. Cute little green ones - my kids love to play with them. We've even started to decorate out there some with frog stuff - ceramic ones, not the real ones!! Of course, the real ones do catch you off guard sometimes when they're sitting next to a ceramic one. Hmm, I don't remember buying that - oh, oops, it jumped!!

You are one of my favorite people. Just thought I would share.

What part of the country are you in? There are fresh-water fiddle crabs you can get in pet stores, so if you are in a warmer climate, they could have been escaped pets. These crabs do like brackish water, so they probably would have been drawn to your pool.
