This is probably a rather silly question but with all of the moving around at AKL due to construction might this happen at CR as well? I know the rooms shouldn't be affected but perhaps because of noise on certain floors certain rooms alone might be affected? I just got to wonderin'....:-) but not hoping it's true. I haven't stayed at the CR since it was one of the only resorts (76 I think) and that's where I want to be on Dec 12!

This is what I think of what you said. As long as no guests are getting calls asking them to switch from the Contemporary to another WDW Resort because of the construction, then they are not worried about it. So I don't see any guests being asked to move from the Contemporary, because I don't recall WDW doing that 2 years ago when all the rooms in the Tower and South Garden Wing were being renovated.

I wondered what happened a few years ago==if anyone was moved during the room rehab. Fingers are crossed it won't be an issue! :)

We stayed at CR several times during the construction and we honestly didn't hear a thing. We even stayed in the tower as the tower rooms were being renovated, and if we hadn't noticed the tarps hung outside the section being done, you wouldn't even know it was going on.

That is 100% how they renovated the rooms in Dec 2005, when my family and I were staying there at that time. Since they covered up the floors they were working on with the tarps, we never noticed and it did not bother us at all.

The last time I stayed there was during the renovations. Didn't hear a thing. I did hear some people were being moved because the area where they were going to be was where the work was going on (affected Concierge I believe). The work that is being done now is apart from the tower and wing.

All of the construction by the CR is outside of the tower and WAY away from the remaining garden wing. At AKL they are relocating guests because they are turning the 5th and 6th floors of the resort into DVC units...so there is a lot of interior construction. There is external construction at AKL as well but the relocations do not have anything to do with that.

I do not think there is any chance tht guests will be moved from the CR for external construction.

Don't forget that they are renovating the lobby and at the end of the month the Food & Fun Center will be closing, so I would assume after that happens the entrances from the inside and outside would be closed and covered up. After that starting next year they are closing the Concourse Steakhouse and that part will become the new counter service location. However all of that won't effect any of the guests staying in the Tower and South Garden Wing, so if they would want to swtich Resorts it would be their decison and not the decision of WDW. So that is a major difference then what is going on at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, because their guest rooms are being effected and the Contemporary guest rooms are not being effected.

I forgot to say that no one here has reported of being asked to switch from the Grand Floridian to another Resort, because they are doing a renovation of all the buildings so that means there will be rooms which are going to be out of commission. So on paper what they are doing at the Grand Floridian sounds a lot worse then what is currently being done at the Contemporary.
