CR Parasailing -- is it worth it

I really enjoyed the experience. It is amazing how far you can see at that height.

You have me thinking about this too, now!! Aside from the 250 feet, what is the difference in the 2 experiences? Just that you can see more at the higher height? How far can you see?

Can someone walk me through this experience? Are you on a boat with several others and take turns? Or do you head back to shore after your experience? Just want to know what to plan for. Oh, how much training is involved? Is there someone there who will take your picture?

You're put into a harnesses and are attached a long cable. The parasail fills with the breeze and you're gently lifted up. My guys said it was very gentle and easy. When your time is up, they slowly real you in and you stand on the deck of the boat when they tell you to. Hope this is a desent description...

We did this two trips ago (DH and I plus all of our grown children) and everyone loved it.

Just wanted to let those of you who are interested know that it's expected that you will tip the boat captain and the person who is putting you in and out of the harnesses. You need to build that into your costs. You tip at the end of the experience.

So glad I found this thread. My DH and I are thinking about doing this on our big 15yr Anniversary trip (yes, the kids are staying home ), but here is my question-sorry up front if its dumb. I know it states that the weight max. is 330. Would that be each can weight up to that or combined weight total? Hope this question makes sense

I'll be spending all next week alone at WDW and really want to go parasailing. BUT I looked it up and it seems extremely expensive for a 10 minute trip. I've never done this before so I thought I would ask the experts on DIS to see if anyone has done it, recently, and if they thought it was worth the money.

If you think you will not have another opportunity, then you should do it. I personally prefer ocean over lake. We have been at Disney, Miami and Bermuda....its all about the scenery. I preferred Bermuda. If you ever think you will be in the carribean or ocean, you should wait.

What I do love at CR / Sammy D's is the wakeboarding. For a first timer, a lake is ideal and very fun! Tubing is a blast, the jetskiing tour is great too.

What is your adventure tolerance? Back in the day I used to work a ropes course. I was BORED para-sailing (not @ disney). Someone with a more sedate lifestyle might find it more Thrilling. My wife liked it, not for the adventure but for the views.

If you like the edge of the envelope, well heck, watcha doing at disney anyhow? No seriously, the parasailing can be good for views, something different, and may challege your sense of adventure. Personally, I would go for the surf lessons instead.

I did it. And I was amazed. It was really cool how they hooked me to the parachute and I went from sitting on the deck to floating without even realizing it. There was no jerking or feeling of being lifted. I expected butterflies but I didn't even get those. I was up the full distance and could see over the CR which provided an amazing view of WDW. I find it interesting that one of my concerns wa whether 8-10 minutes would be worth it - after being up I can't imagine being up longer. Although,as someone else commented, if I was in a different environment I might feel differently. After a couple trips around the lake there wasn't really much more to look at the the excitement wore off --except when the birds flew along side of me. The desent was incredibly smooth. One minute I was floating and the next I was being told to stand and the whole thing was over. I definitely recomment this as it was a great experience. My husband is going to take our DD up for her birthday this Sept. I'll do it again but I'm thinking I might try it over the ocean in Palm Beach or Ft. Lauderdale. We'll see.

My in-laws bought me a parasailing trip in WDW for my birthday . Very exciting. I don't want to be cheap, how much is a reasonable tip for the guys on the boat?

That was the one thing I hadn't thought of before I went up so I was somewhat unprepared. All I had was a $10.00 which I thought was fair. $5.00 for each of them seemed like a decent tip. The other people that went up didn't leave anything. I would say that you don't have to tip as they are getting paid to do this but they had a sign that said TIPS APPRECIATED on the steps.
