I'll be spending all next week alone at WDW and really want to go parasailing. BUT I looked it up and it seems extremely expensive for a 10 minute trip. I've never done this before so I thought I would ask the experts on DIS to see if anyone has done it, recently, and if they thought it was worth the money.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Ok, when ever some one ask me a "worth" question I always say.. take the money aspect out of it for a second.

You say you really want to try it. You've never done it before. I've never wanted to go parasailing but I think for you it would be worth it.

It's some thing you always wanted to try and you'll come away with a new experience. Go for it. How much is it?

We are thinking about doing it for our trip in August. We've always wanted to try it. If I can scrape together the extra money we are definitely going to give it a go!

I totally agree :thumbsup2 I hope the OP goes parasailing. And since you bring it up - I'm gonna look into it for our summer trip. My DD has done it once at a birthday party but DH nor I has ever been parasailing. I think it would be tons of fun :yay:

Haven't done parasailing at disney but we recently returned from Mexico and my DS, 14 and I went up tandem, 400', WHAT A ONCE IN A LIFETIME experience. It was amazing and I think that doing it at Disney would be even more amazing. If I recall, they actually go quite a bit higher.
HAVE A FABULOUS trip whether you decide to go or not, Lucky YOU!

that once you're up there, 12 minutes is really plenty of time. I was hoping to do this for my DH for his birthday while we're there, but DS (8) got wind of it and now he wants to do it with his dad. I'll have to find another sucker in our group to try it with...:goodvibes

There were 2 different options as far as height you go up and of course the option for 2 people or 1 person. The only one I remember was 2 people going up 600 feet (I think that's what I remember) for 12 minutes was $160. The other was something like 400 feet but I can't remember the prices. Check the Contemporary page. I think that's where I got my info.

There ya go! See the link above.

Soooo... how much is it?

Last August DH and DD16 went parasailing at the contemporary....they BOTH LOVED IT!!!! DD16 says she will always remembering doing that with her Daddy....go for it!!!!:cool1:

:) I wonder if you can really tell the difference between the 450' and the 600' or just the time? Anyone know? Can you see the Castle or anything? I am thinking maybe my DS and myself of doing it... the price difference is not really that much just $15. so that's not bad.. But since neither of us have ever done it maybe we should just do the 450'????:)

Do you just show up at your appointment and then they leave right away? Im just wondering how much time to plan for. Also, do they let you bring a camera up there?

Dh and ds went parasailing and they LOVED it! It was a splurge, but it was the highlight of their trip and for them it was worth doing because they enjoyed it so much.

So I'm definitely going to do it. I've debated and decided this is probably the only chance I will have to do something like this just for me. I'm going to go cheap (I know the price difference isn't much but it will buy a nice dinner somewhere). I really can't imagine the height difference making that much of a difference so I'm just going to go and enjoy. I'm making the arrangements tomorrow and hopefully by Friday I will have a wonderful story to share with all of you. Thanks for your input.

For my DH and DS it's worth it. They did this last time we went and we have reservations for July this year. It was fun for me to just ride in the boat and watch them. I don't care for heights...:rolleyes1

AWESOME!! I can't wait to hear about it!

We have done it a couple of times, with the last time being May of 2007. I always take a disposable camera up with me so I can take a few pictures.
