Hi guys,
Gosh, I haven't posted since I cancelled my dream vacation to the World in December. I'm happy to say that I am again going to my favorite place of all in October. I have rooms booked at the Contemporary since Shades of Green is being renovated. They are trying to put all Shades of Green folk at the Contemp. However, I haven't seen or read anything positive about staying and the CR. I've stayed at the Poly before but cannot afford to stay there this time. I've read alot fo postive things about the moderate resorts specifically the one that has the French Quarter theme. Any suggestions? I've gott the CR resort booked at a military rate which is a steal......$100/night. Should I stay with that or book a moderate resort that has a nicer theme and pool? I'll be going by myself with my 2 girls ages 5 and 7. Thanks so much.

Mellie

Mellie, for that price, staying at the Contemporary is a NO BRAINER! You will never get that price again!!! Save a moderate hotel for a future visit.

I'll be staying at CR also thru SoG in November. I agree with blueman. I think that we will both be pleasantly suprised.:)

I will be there in 11 days!!! I will post my impressions.

I would stay with the CR. The price you got is great. The amenities at the Deluxe resorts are som much nicer than the moderates. Don't get me wrong, I think the moderates are nice but to be on the monorail and be able to see the MK as you stroll around the grunds is worth the additional cost t me. The girls will love the aatmosphere of the place. Make sure you spend a little time at the arcade. It is fun. They have a real cute Stainless Steel Micky sculpture. I got my childrens picture sitting in Mickey's ears and ssent it as our Christmas card the year we were there. We had a night swim in the pool and watched the firreworks while we were in the warm pool. That was a magical moment. I think you will enjoy the resort. It is really wonderful to have the larger room.

Even though I donot personally care for the appearance of the Contemporary, I would stay there for that price. It would be nice to experience a monorail resort, have large rooms, close access to MK. I'm sure you'll never see that price again.

Let's put it this way, before we stayed at the Contemporary (Garden View) room in December 2000, we visited the Wilderness Lodge while we were resort hopping. My kids fell in love with it - all the Christmas decorations out and everything. My son said, our next trip, we have to stay there. Not a request but a demand, and my kids are the kind to make demands. Then we went to the Contemporary. You will notice that our trip in 2001 does not include the Wilderness Lodge, but did include 5 days at the Contemporary. If my son had his choice, our upcoming trip would all be at the Contemporary. Your getting it for $100 per night makes me wish I could join up again. Yes, the moderates are really nice, but the Contemporary for $100 is a great rate for a great resort. The rooms are huge (they are 100 square feet larger than the Caribean Beach Resort) and the monorail access can't be beat. I'm sure you will enjoy your trip there.

We're very excited about being "bounced" to CR from SoG, because:

On the monorail--switch at TTC to take monorail to Epcot, slide over to Poly for the torchlighting ceremony, pop over to Grand Floridian Cafe for lunch.....
Can walk to MK
Water Mice
CR's observation deck
California Grill
Still a bigger room than moderates
Electrical Water Pageant every night
Boat over to WL to see Christmas decorations, or to FW for pony rides and petting zoo

The Contemporary is GREAT!:D The rooms are really large. It is very convienient to have the monorail access. The pool area is very nice. I love being able to walk back from the Magic Kingdom after the fireworks. Also, Chef Mickey's is a great character meal right on site.

:D  :D

Thankyou sooooo much for all the replies regarding the CR! I'm now certain that I will keep my ressies via SOG and not change to a moderate resort. You've got me so excited now and I feel relaxed now that my mind is made up. Thanks again.

Melanie

Remember,

The CR was Walt's idea of a "flagship" resort when the park was planned. The CR, to me, has some of the best Disney "Magic" for just that reason.

we were at the CR last week-we loved it!!! The rooms are large, and the fact that you can walk to MK can't be beat. My kids thought the bathroom was cool. Just found out that April vacation in 2003 is 4/18-4-25 , and we will definitely be at the CR then!!!

I love the Contemporary Resort! When possible I try and stay there. I have only stayed in the Tower but I can tell you my children love it there.

Were just there about 3 weeks ago. Loved the convenience of the CR. Loved the water pageant, the Food & Fun Ctr., the hot tub, water mice, etc., etc., etc.

We already have our reservations booked there for 2 weeks next year as an SoG relocation. Can't wait.

The wings are also very nice to stay in. If you have small children ask to face the playground.
