Just found this great site! First time posting.

It has been over 5 yrs since we were at WDW. We are going in Feb03 with my husband, daughter (3 yrs), mother and father. My father cannot walk long distances (uses a cane).

We are staying at the CR for 2 nights (yet to be determined). We only want to see MK and Epcot on this trip.

It appears that one can try and request rooms.

My request is this:

*What rooms would be good so that my father doesn't have to walk too far to the elevator or playground?

*Does it help to mention his disability when booking?

*Near the playground and MK good for my daughter?

*Would like to see the fireworks and lagoon parade.

It appears that from other listings the Tower or the NG, first floor are good, but I am a bit confused. Also, confused by the SoG stuff.

Also, does anyone have any input on the character breakfast and character dinner shows?

Thanks!

It's hard to know which room would be best for your situation. I don't think there is any that is close to everything. I would, however, suggest that you either go with the Tower (to be close to the elevator) or the 1st floor in the Wings (South Wing to be close to pool, and North Wing to be close to playground). You might want to talk to the CM at the Contemporary before you book your room. As for the Shades of Green, I'm not sure if they will still be there or not. And I would definately mention your dad's disability when making the rooms. Although Disney does try to please every guest, they try even harder when there is a medical reason.

2yrs ago when we booked our room(son is disabled),the cm at cro transfered me to another department that handled the room booking for people in wheelchairs. She asked what he needed and the amount of people that would be in our room. She then suggested instead of the 2 rooms we thought we would need to instead book okw 2 br. She even got us and ap discount. She was very helpful and very nice to deal with. We didn't get to go because he became sick, he finish's school in 3yrs so we want to rent a house for the winter. This way we won't have to worry about accomadations and we can take him to wdw anytime we want.Susan
