we're thinking of heading to disney and possibly contemp. resort. i haven't been on the boards much latey. but i do remember something about construction at the contemp. is the construction done close to done or not at all.

are there any pics floating around of the construction or the remodeled parts.

I think they are almost finished with the lobby.

the outside building is not even close to being finished - but it should not cause you any problems.

they haven't even started (I don't think) on the first floor conversion.

All rooms have been completley renovated. The lobby is almost finished. They are in the process of shifting the restaurants around. Soon the
concourse steak house will be moved where the food n fun center use to be. Then a new counter service restaurant apparently to be called Chef Mickeys to go will open where the steak house was. So the biggest question for you is wheather the new counter service is open or if you will have the use the tempo grab and go which is the temporary counter service on the 4th floor.

As of right now there is no construction happening on the 4th floor and last month when I went to visit the Contemporary, the lobby was 99.9% finished with the expection being where the Contemporary Grounds use to be. I think by now that area should be finished, however no one has come on here and confirmed that. Besides that there is a huge wall covering the entrance to where the Food & Fun Center use to be so they can work on turning it into their new restaurant called the Wave, without the guests hearing or seeing the construction taking place.

The Concourse Steakhouse is closing on May 10th, 2008 so they can turn that into Chef Mickey's Express which is to be the new counter service location. Someone posted that they plan to open Chef Mickey's Express on August 14th, 2008, however that is just a rumour and no opening date has been announced yet. Anyway if the projected opening date is correct there will be construction on that part of the 4th floor until that day and once it's over it will be the end of all construction happening inside the Tower building.

I was told that Contemporary Grounds was supposed to be moved again closer to the entrance, and that it would have fresh baked cinnamon rolls and such (I was told this a couple of months ago). So, we'll see what happens!

The rooms have been completed for a couple of years.

I was told that Contemporary Grounds was supposed to be moved again closer to the entrance, and that it would have fresh baked cinnamon rolls and such (I was told this a couple of months ago). So, we'll see what happens!

I never heard anything about them moving again, since they were located at the doors which lead to the convention center. Anway if you can please look at the section of the lobby I mentioned, so we can know for sure that it is finished by now and maybe take some pictures there to see what they did to that part.

It was in November when I was told, but the change didn't appear to be imminent (everything has been taking longer than expected, though the outside is certainly plugging along).

The only thing I am curious to find out is about the location in the lobby where the Contemporary Grounds had always been. Maybe they are moving it back to the old location which could be the answer why it might be in a temporary location as you were told and because the area I saw them still renovating use to be their location. So maybe they are making it better then it was before?

I thought I actually took a photo this time of the former CR Grounds location, I'll have to look through the pics.

Except for supposedly moving the CR Grounds, but I'll ask about that if I have time (well, if I remember). I am not really thrilled with the decor in the lobby sitting area, though the lobby desk area looks lovely.

But as of right now the Contemporary Grounds is in the location you mentioned, which means now there is no renovations going on in the lobby? Of course if the Contemporary Grounds moves again there will be renovations going on again in the lobby.
