CR and Garden Building

My DH and I are going to be attending a convention at the CR next weekend. Our res. form says we will be in the garden building. Where is this? Are there any good views?

I believe that means you are not in the tower but the Garden wings, there are two three story buildings on each side of the Contemporary. If you get a bottom level room you will have a patio. The 2nd and 3rd floors have no balcony. Not sure about the views. You will either face out in to the parking lot or towards the bay or pool. I'm sure there are others more knowledgeable on the different view possibilities. I think you will enjoy the Contemporary, the rooms are very spacious.

Stayed in a garden room last year - somewhat of a walk from the main part of the hotel but overlooked the water which was nice. Enjoyed the size of the room.

You will be in the garden wings. This can be a walk. You might want to tak the resort tour at www.disneyzone.actusa.net. They have pictures and maps.

just back from the CR north garden wing. we were in the first building next to the towers and loved it. every thing was very close and except for the fact we didn't have a balcony it was great. the CMs were super and the arcade was great for the kids.

We loved the garden wings! We were in the North. Very close to Food n Fun Center and pools. They few times we went in the tower, we hated the waits for the elevators.

My fiance and I are going to be in the North Garden Wing through SoG next May for our honeymoon, and Im a bit nervous about what the rooms are going to be like. We have heard so many things about the NGW, like the hallway is dingy, the rooms werent clean, and the chances of getting a good view are slim...what did you think of it when you were there? Is there anything I should be aware or anything? Thanks!

We were also leary of staying at CR through a SoG relocation. We have always stayed in a FW cabin. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are large. We did not think it was dingy. We did have to call housekeeping a few times, but they always came back & remade our room when we complained. I think the housekeeping could have been better, & we made our thoughts known. All in all, we enjoyed the resort very much. Going back again next year.

A few tips:

Request a ground floor room - they have a patio.

Request a room close to the main building. Less of a walk to the main building.

Take advantage of the refillable mug program. You can use it at the pool snack bar also - not just the Food & Fun Center.

Use the walkway to MK - especially on your way in. Much shorter than taking the monorail to go to the park & a lot less crowded on your way back from the park.

Mineebaby - First of all - Congratulations! Don't worry. Your honeymoon will be magical solely because you will be with the person you love. Secondly, there are many people who find the CR the most magical, because it was Walt's first and his design. It goes right to the heart of Walt Disney and the WDW. I will be staying there for two nights with SOG this summer, and had the same concerns as others. I spoke with a really wonderful SOG rep on the phone about the resort. She said she stayed there, and really had a super time. They loved the CR. Said it was fun, and different. She said the rooms were huge. I opted to pay extra fee to have a guaranteed water view. It wasn't much, and you may want to request this for your honeymoon. But, if you face the MK, yes you will face the parking lot, but it also seems you would face the nightly MK fireworks. That is romantic. May is a great time to go to MK. The weather is perfect, and you can stroll over to the MK from your resort in the evening to take in a few last rides. There seems to be a lot to do around Bay Lake for recreation and exploration. I think you will love it!

So glad that I could have helped. People on this board are helping me a lot lately. Just wanted to say that the charge for lake view was $10 per night. That is definitely doable for most people. Also, they say to request a room on the first floor, because you will have a patio. It would be so romantic to sit outside with a glass of wine or whatever to stare at the lake and watch the electric water parade. Don't forget to explore the other resorts, and you may want to consider doing the deluxes toward the end of your trip, Just in case you find one that you like better, and then end up saying, "I wish we would have stayed here". I always love to explore the other resorts. That's one of the best things about a Disney vacation.

The water mice can be rented at CR, and they also have some waterskiing and other fun water stuff. You might want to consider the very romantic boat ride to Wilderness Lodge for a dinner at Artist Point. Dh and I did that on our honeymoon. It was one of the best meals we've had, and we got a window seat so we could see the geyser spouting. California Grill at CR is also very romantic at sunset. DD and I will be watching the fireworks from the observation deck at CR. I am not sure how to get there, but know it is a prime location for taking in the fireworks. We can't get much more "Disney" than staying at the CR. It is supposed to be a very fun, happening place to stay.


Forgpot to mention that you should make it known at the front desk that it is your honeymoon, and they may send a little fruit basket or something. Don't expect it though, that way if they don't you won't be disappointed. Also, when you make your PS's, also advise that it is your honeymoon, and that you'd like a special table. Sometimes they can abide and recognize you, someitmes not. The Hoop Dee Doo was really fun for honeymooners, because you get to stand up and dance together. Make sure if you go, that you tell them it's your honeymoon, they usually always recognize people with special occasions.

Query about the 3rd floor rooms. Do they have a sliding glass door that opens? I understand there is no balcony, but is there a door that opens or is there just a window? Also, has anyone stayed in the South Wing?
