I am so confused. We are going back again in Sept. I have reserved the MK suite on the 14th floor at the CR. Last year we stayed 12th floor CR and had a wonderful time. Is it worth the extra thousands of dollars to stay on the 14th floor. (My girls are 13, 11, and 9 ). Then I was thinking that maybe we would try something new and stay at the Poly Concierge LV. Any help would be appreciated. I am so confused.

I had a MK suite (one bedroom) over Thanksgiving. I would NOT do it again. I have stayed on the 12th floor MANY times over the past 10 yrs and that is where I would stay if I ever stayed at the CR again. It used to be our family's favorite resort, but that suite was so run down and scummy (black gunk in the tile grout, ceiling tiles caving in, ripped & stained wallpaper.....) I would NEVER do the 14th floor again. I felt totally ripped off and disappointed. The cms are wonderful and you would get the same concierge help on either floor. The food is basically the same except no evening appetizers and treats on the 12th. We basically only usually use the concierge food for bfast, anyway.

The 14th was a holiday splurge for us, but it was extremely disappointing.

The 12th floor is worth the money - the 14th floor - especially a $1200+/night suite is NOT. Just MHO, dont do it. I did not think the rooms on 12th floor were as poorly maintained as the suite we stayed in. Maybe we just got a bum room, I don't know - but I was not happy and I did let the concierge staff know. For a "contemporary" resort, we had an OLD microwave -never seen one that old, furniture that was showing it's age, a video player - no DVD, just not impressive......People have reported having the staff stock their fridge, special room keys, special turn down treats - we got NONE of those things.

I have also stayed in the Poly Hawaii concierge building. It was fine, but overall I would stay GF, BWI, YC/BC or even the Swan/Dolphin.

That horrid stay on the 14th floor has soured me on the CR. My kids still want to stay there - but my kids don't care about $$$$ or dirt. :earsgirl:

Good luck with wherever you decide to stay. This was just my experience there and I know others have had great stays on the 14th floor. I really did used to LOVE the CR until that stay.

So....do the rooms on the 12 floor have microwaves? And VCRs? That would be cool! :)

Lives4Disney-thanks so much for your reply. I have been trying to justify the 1200 per night and am having a hard time. We loved the 12th floor last time we went and I was wondering if the 14th was worth the extra money. Sure doesn't sound like it. We are staying 7 nights and I would hate to spend all of that money and be disappointed.
My husband said that our trip last year was the one and only trip we would take to disney. He had such a good time he has agreed to go back this year, so I want things to go well this year again.

Erinz - no, the 12th floor doesn't have microwaves or DVD players. The point of my comment was that the microwave that we did have in the 14th floor suite was scary. I wouldn't have touched it! It was the OLDEST microwave I have ever seen and I am 38. Also, there was just a cheapy video player in the suite. Come on - who travels with video tapes?? We always bring DVDs for the kids to watch on the plane. If it is so "contemporary" the place should at least have the common electronics of the 21st century!! I didn't even expect a microwave or a video player, but they were lame anyway.

Robinson - We also have enjoyed the 12th floor. That was the only place we liked to stay. When we stayed anywhere else, just to try it, we always missed the 12th floor of the CR. It didn't feel like we were at Disney World until we checked into the CR!! That made this 14th floor splurge all the more disappointing to us. Good luck with wherever you stay. Sorry to be such a downer on the 14th floor, it was just bad for us and I cannot recommend it at all. I really wanted to move down to the 12th, but it was THanksgiving week and the place was FULL. Have a fun vacation!!

i havent stayed on the 14th floor so i cant comment on it except for seeing the not so great reviews on here. i have stayed on the 12th and have posted many times about what a wonderful time we had and how the service in my opinion could not have been any better on the 14th floor. our room was great , mousekeeping was great, towel animals, turndown service, birthday cake , balloons, and a card from goofy for my ds. ps 3 times last minute and for chef mickeys and california grill no less. i dont think i could ever spend that much more for the 14th floor knowing how great the 12th was. i really think all you get different on the 14th is more food and the offerings on the 12th were pleanty for our family!!

We spent a whole week on the 14th last Sept. We had a wonderful time. The concierge staff couldn't have been nicer and more accomodating. The food selections were wonderful and different each night.

There are several posts abt the 14th floor, just do a search.

I have also only seen 1 "bad" review, the rest have been good. 14th doesn't get a lot of "talk" because it is so small in the number of rooms.

*I* would stay on 14 again, and *I* would not waste my $$ on the 12th. As for the Poly, I've never stayed there, nor have I any interest. So I can't help you there.

I do currently have a standard room at the WL (6/13-16) with a pin code rate of $138 per night. While speaking to CRO the other day in regards to some modifications I was offered a Contemoprary Tower rate (12 th floor w/concierge lite) for $265. I wasn't really considering making this move until I thought about my food expenses and started wandering. I know it's a full Continental Breakfast but I was wnondering what was offered at Afternoon Tea and in the evening I heard Wine and Cheese. Also I believe I read that the food sercice ends at 4pm on the 12th floor.

I guess I'm hoping for a little more insight on what it offers and as always.......opinions are suggested!!

Have a magical day,

Andy

$265 a night is a GREAT rate for the cr 12th floor. the food does end at 4 there is no night time offerings. the afternoon snacks are cookies brownies rice krispy treats goldfish crackers etc.. we didnt feel the need for nighttime food since we always went somewhere for dinner. the service alone is worth that price. i would definatly give it a try we paid $320 a night and i thought that was a great deal for $265 i wouldnt give it a second thought if you can swing the extra money.
