Hi Everyone:

I was wondering if anyone can give me their opinion? We are going to Disney President's Week for 5 days after a cruise.

I have reservations at Marriott's Horizons for a 2br for $168 a night. My question is should I opt for Cypress Point Grand Villas for $93 a night thru Hotel Kingdom instead? Is there that big a difference between these two resorts? Does the Marriott warrant us paying almost double? Can't decide what to do.

We've stayed at a bunch of other timeshare resorts in the past and loved them all (MGV, Orange Lake, Silver Lake, Vistana Villages, etc) and loved them all.

Any opinions or advice would be very much appreciated!!!

Thanks so much.

Your post caught my eye because I'm researching now for that same week. We are cruiseing (Disney Wonder) the 13th thru the 17th of Feb. and then will be staying on for 5 or 6 nights afterward. Although we can usually trade in to a timeshare, that week is a little more challenging. I noticed the Cypress Pointe Grandvillas low nightly rate on Hotel Kingdom last night and have been contemplating that myself.

Last year I booked Cypress Pointe for four nights in their 2 bedroom. Although it was a nice resort, there was a couple of things I didn't like. There was no tv in the second bedroom which for us was a disappointment. At the end of the night, the kids like to go in and unwind with cartoons or whatever while they lay in bed. They don't have tv's in their rooms at home so it's kind of a big deal to them. Also, found the second bedroom to be on the small side. The master bedroom was large with a king bed but, has no privacy between the bathroom / toilet and the bedroom. Literally, if you were sitting on the toilet, anyone entering the bedroom could see your reflection in the mirror. It was wierd and I don't know why they set it up like that. Kind of a pain, if two people wanted to be in there at once. Also, the resort was pretty noisy. Lots of maintainence people out working very early in the morning and I remember not getting much rest.

The other thing I'm a little confused about is that I know there is two different sections. At least that is what I thought. I thought one section was Cypress Pointe and the other newer "nicer" section was Cypress Pointe Grandvilla's. Initially, on Hotel Kingdom I thought that they were advertising the GrandVilla's but when I clicked on more info, it was described as just Cypress Pointe. Maybe someone who is more familiar with the resort can clarify. I think the Grandvilla's have a bigger second bedroom and not the same setup as I've described above so it would make a difference.

While we haven't stayed at Horizon's, we have stayed at Marriotts Cypress Harbor and the Marriott resorts are very nice. I'm not sure the price difference would be worth it. The positives to CP was there was a very nice pool and with the exception of the things I mentioned above, the condo's were pretty nice. CP is closer to Disney if that is what you'll be doing with Horizon's closer to Seaworld.

I'm not sure I helped much, but that is some of the info I have. I'm curious to hear if anyone else can shed some more light on the Cypress Pointe, versus Cypress Grandvilla difference and which one Hotel Kingdom is actually advertising.

Thanks
Jenn

Jenn - Thanks so much for your input! Those were the same concerns I have. We are cruising on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas the 12-19th of Feb. and are planning on arriving Orlando on Monday the 21st.

My kids also like the tv in the second room. (Actually my dh and I like it) since we can unwind in the other room.

The bathroom set up does sound strange. Even though it's just my dh and I sharing the room, we still both like a little privacy when we are "busy" if you know what I mean.

I'd love to hear other peoples opinons too. Anyone? Ideas, suggestions?

How does Horizons compare?

Thanks so much!

I can't compare Horizons for you, but the condos at CPGV have a seperate toilet/shower area in the master. The sink and whirlpool tub are in the "open" in the bedroom area.
Second bedroom as 2 twins and no tv.

ALL are 2 bedroom villas (sleeps 8 - 6 private & 2 on sofa bed couch). Master has king size bed, separate toilet & vanity area. 2nd bedroom has 2 beds w/ adjoining bathroom. There are TV's in each room & the living room.

Full kitchen (dishwasher, ice maker, garbage disposal) w/ seating for 8 & service for 8 in dining room along with TV in living room.

Horizons also has a wonderful themed pool .... Horizons Harbor with a sunken pirate ship with interactive water cannons. Water Works is across from check in that has water spouts & the chance to dump hundreds of gallons of water on opposing teams from your own "pirate shack". There is also a small playground next to Water Works.

The pirate associates that have planned activities for kids of all ages are wonderful. There are activities planned throughout the day.

It also has a new basketball/multipurpose court along with an 18 hole putt putt course.

HTH,
Judy
