CP without ADR

Going in early May. Our two MK days will also be our travel days. What are my chances for getting in to CP for a late-breakfast or lunch? I just hate to make an ADR, not knowing exactly what time we'll get to the park, and have to go to the trouble of cancelling if we can't make.

I don't know the answer to your question but I did go to WDW in May last year and there were some days that the park closed due to capacity. It's so busy that time of year I don't know if your chances would be very good.

I would at least try to make an ADR. For CP, they are free...so you won't be charged. If it doesn't work out, you can try to cancel. I'm not suggesting that you don't cancel if you miss it, but you won't be charged if you are a "no show"- its primarily a courtesy to cancel so other guests can get reservations in your place.

Could you please tell me what dates you were at WDW? From everything I've heard early May is a great time to go for moderate crowds...and I've also read tons of people reporting that last year it rained so much that the parks were nearly deserted.

I didn't know the parks closed to capacity last May. :confused3 There were a couple of days over Easter weekend when MK did while we were there last year, but I didn't think May was comparable with Easter/Spring Break.

To comment on the OP's question, we actually managed to snag an extra ressie at CP once we arrived. It doesn't help you, I know as you have specific days and time constraints. Why not make a lunch ressie if you are worried about getting there in time? As a previous poster said, it won't cost you and it is only a quick call to cancel. At least then you know you have a reasonable chance of eating there.

We were there over Memorial Day weekend last year, the busiest time in May, and MK did not close for capacity.

To the OP, we had ADR's in January at CP. January is one of the slowest times of the year and CP was packed to the rafters. Even with our ADR, we waited a good 20 minutes past before we were seated.

If you are set on going to CP, I would make the ADR now and hassle with cancelling later. I think without an ADR, it would be slim chance to get in.

Make an ADR now, and put the Disney Dining number in your cell.
I have it on speed dial. :lmao:

Id make the ADR. Pick a time you feel you can meet. They usually book breakfsts until around 10:30 to 10:45 or so.

Thanks everyone! I just booked for lunch on our last day. That will give us time to get to the park after checking out of our townhouse, and still plenty of time to spend in the park before heading to the airport. I've been wanting to eat there for years and it's better not to leave it to chance.

As for the crowd level, we were at WDW last year in early May and the crowds were very reasonable, I thought.
