Hi! I've been a long time lurker of the Disboards but finally made an account to ask a question about the college program, seeing as I hope to apply in the near future.

1. Is it possible to have your own room (at any apartment complex) or will you basically always have a roommate no matter what?

2. Is it possible to have a second job while you are there if it is extremelyyyy flexible? (Ex. Working as a substitute teacher where you never have a schedule- if they have a day where they need one you can choose to come in. Or working in a club 1 or 2 nights a week?)

3. What can cause termination? (other than the obvious underage drinking, fights, stealing, weaponry, sneaking people in, etc). Are they super strict about everything? Any stories about people getting termed for ridiculous things?

Thanks!

1. Nope, you will always have a roommate if you stay in the provided apartments. There are some who will lose a roommate during the program; so you may have a period without a roommate, but they try to fill in those holes.

2. Sure... but your Disney schedule has to come first. Some areas (such as Costuming) post a schedule on Friday (9 days in advance), others (such as front desk) post a schedule on Wednesday (only 4 days in advance). Depending on where your second job is, scheduling could get quite difficult.

3. Attendance is a big one for termination; calling in or showing up late to many times. Most areas review the attendance matrix early in the training process. Other things could be poor performance decisions, safety is another big one. CPs are not protected by the Union, so things that our FT or CR CMs may be able to "fight" cannot be fought by a CP, which makes termination easier.

Thank you, that was very helpful! I of course would 100% put my Disney schedule first, but if there is a day I have off, I wouldn't mind making a few extra dollars that day :)

Also, I forgot. I hear you could get in trouble/termed for going on "inappropriate" websites in the apts. Is this true? I don't go on an crazy websites or anything but I was curious to if that was true and how strict are they on web usage?

I've never heard of that on the apartment computers, as you're paying for your internet usage through your rent. But it's been a couple years since I did the program, so perhaps it's a rule now?

However, computer usage on a Disney work computer is extremely well monitored and could get your termed. Most CPs do not even have the ability to access a computer, so that helps with that. Also, Facebook is completely blocked, so that's not even an option.

Examples of inappropriate computer usage at work include: Personal e-mails (Yahoo, GMail, etc), Personal Blogs, streaming anything live, and of course anything pornographic is instant termination.

Make sure to follow the disney look if you get too many warnings and such it could become a point. In housing dont open windows or leave doors open if you get too many warnings and then a violation 2 violations = termination
