I have 2 reservations for my first night at Disney, one for CP at 4:20 and one for Chef Mickey's at 8pm. I am not sure with flights, checking into the hotel, etc. what time I will get over to the MK area, which is why I scheduled the later dinner. Which restaurant do you prefer for dinner? I should mention we are going to CP later in the week for breakfast, which is why I was leaning towards CHef Mickey's, but Chef Mickey's has some pretty bad reviews. Please let me know your thoughts.

I'm not a fan of Disney buffets for lunch or dinner (the exception being Biergrarten and Cape May). The last time we ate at CM's for dinner we were very disappointed (we've never done Crystal Palace for dinner). However, being that you are already going to Crystal Palace for breakfast (our favorite and must not miss characte rmeal), I would suggest you do Chef Mickey's.

We went to Chef Mickey's the first night of our trip for dinner and we loved it there! We would definitely return! We went when it opened though, at 5pm. I don't know how it is later in the evening. We enjoyed the food, plenty of variety, and the character interaction was great. I know people complain it is loud, but I always expect it to be loud at a character meal. I don't go to character meals for a quiet, intimate dining experience. The desserts were also delicious. Everyone in our party of 10 enjoyed Chef Mickey's dinner and would like to go back.

We also went to Crystal Palace for breakfast one of our mornings, before MK opened. We loved that too!

I have reviews (with pictures) in my dining reviews, you can click onto them from the link in my signature. ;)

We have also done the reverse, on our 2008 trip, and did CP for dinner and CM for breakfast. We enjoyed this too!

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. We will probably do Chef Mickey's. It has been close to 20 years since I was last at Disney and it is the first trip for my boys (ages 12 and 14), so I want to make sure I make good choices. My boys are picky eaters and love buffets, which is why I have picked the restaurants I did.

bangzoom6877-I am reading your report and enjoying it. You ate at many of the same restaurants that I have ADR's at, which is nice. I enjoy seeing the pics too. We leave in one week, and I cannot wait :yay:

I vote for Chef Mickeys. It's a great way to kick off the vacation.

You'll be going to CP later in the trip so you don't need to see the same character twice when you have the opportunity to go to Chef Mickey's. Also, you would use a day of your ticket to get into MK for CP dinner.
