CP and FDP on dining plan

We're going to be at SSR for Christmas and although I'm not convinced we'll save money on the dining plan over DDE, I thought we'd try it this time due to the holidays. I've read that they bump up the prices for the holidays and the week we're going (12/20-12/27), you cannot use DDE anyway, so I thought we MAY come out ahead. That being said, I have yet to tell MS I want the dining plan. I'll probably call tomorrow and add it. I realize you don't pay for it until the day of check-in. I made my ADRs yesterday which included Le Cellier for the Candlelight processional, and H&V for the Fantasmic Dinner package. For those two restaurants, I had to book it with a credit card. I did tell the CM I plan to add the DP for our trip with MS. My question is, will my card be charged for the packages beforehand? I'm under the impression that they just use it to hold your spot just in case you don't show up or cancel, and you pay for your actual meal at the time you eat. At the time of the meal, you then tell them you plan on using dining cradits, but I'm second guessing myself. Am I way off?

You are right on the money about this. The credit card holds your reservation, it is only charged if you dont show or dont cancel within 24 hours.
