Hello all!

I am a WDW CP Alumni (Fall '09, QS Food and Beverage at Magic Kingdom) that has recently graduated and moved to the LA area to work in the entertainment industry. My dream would be an entry level position at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank! I have applied for an appalling amount of jobs there, but have heard nothing.

I am applying for an hourly position at DLR in Anaheim, thinking maybe I can move laterally to the Studios or that it may make me look more committed/desirable. I have heard from many that I need a referral from someone who works there, so I am a trying to contact a few alumni who are at the Studios.

Anyone have any advice or other ideas about how to get my foot in the door at the Disney Studios? Thanks in advance, and I wish everyone the best of luck on their Disney employment dreams!! :cool1:

Essentially, applying for a position with the Studios (or another segment in CA) is similar to applying for a position with another large fortune 500 company. Disney has the ability to be very selective as to who they interview and therefore who they ultimately hire, as they, on average, receive a very large number of applicants for each position. They are looking for the best in their respective fields and will recruit and hire the best.

There really is no correlation to working for the parks front line and obtaining a role somewhere else within the Company. The advantage you obtain is the ability to network with others, but you must make use of that advantage.

All in all, it is very competitive, but as is any other corporation. There is no secret or quick tip to getting a job. Do your best in school, gain experience, and apply to positions which you believe you are the best candidate for.

Best of luck to all who are looking for a role either within or outside of the Company.

Leverage your connections made at DLR. This is extremely important and will help a ton. Meet people through other people, let people know you want to work for the Studios, and you might be lucky enough to run into people who have connections, who can introduce you to those connections. Once you find connections, schedule some time to sit and meet with them, and talk. If they like you and you made a positive impression, your life just got a lot easier. And then, repeat.

Thank you ibaw and aznshents for your advice! I will be sure to make use of it- contacts and references seem to be key!

Fellow CP Alums, be sure to keep everyone updated with interviews, job offers, etc.! And good luck on your job searches!
