Has anyone gone to Cozumel and visited a beach on their own (not with an excursion)? If so, what was your experience?

Yes, probably 15 trips to Cozumel over last 5 years and always on my own! Have been to Paradise Beach, Money Bar, and Chankanaab, but there are many other great ones. So easy to get a taxi and visit a beach on your timeline for less money than a ship excursion.

We took a taxi to/from Paradise Beach a few years. Easy peasy, and we loved Paradise Beach. We would go there again.

Good to know it was so easy! My family did that in St Thomas, and liked it so much we wanted to repeat it in Cozumel.

We also went to Paradise Beach and loved it. Along with the beach they have a great pool and the poolside restaurants serves delicious food!

Another vote for taking a taxi to Paradise Beach. We've done it a few times, and never had any problems. Considering Mr. Sancho's this time, but hate to mess with a good thing. I like paradise beach because it is not all-inclusive, and since we don't drink alcohol I feel like we are not wasting money on something we don't need. I also worry the all-inclusive beaches might be a little more rowdy as the day goes on and less family-friendly.

Vote paradise beach! We took our 3 kids...DS17, DD8, DD3. Easy to get taxies both ways. Very clean place and clea bathrooms, no issues with the food or drinks (they use filtered water), pool was great for the little one, the inflatable floating items in the ocean were so much fun for my DH, DS and DD8 ($18 per person). Bring extra cash because the drinks were yummy! Felt very safe. You can see pics of the beach on line. Even saw a few CM there enjoying the rays! Have a great time!

Always do cozumel on our own. Easy to get cabs. Good food and cheap beer. I can drink 7 Coronas in Cozumel for the price of 1 on the ship.

We did Paradise Beach with our 4 kids. Super easy and a great day. Go straight thru the terminal to the other side where the taxi stand is. There will be a list of destinations and the cost. No haggling. When you are ready to leave PB, just ask the front desk to call a taxi if there isn't one waiting there already. I'm sure it works the same for all the other major beaches there.

We really did like PB. It was clean, no one was trying to sell you trinkets. The pool is nice, and there are clean bathrooms and changing rooms. The food was good and our server was super nice and not too pushy. FYI there are huge inflatables that the kids loved, but they are in fairly deep water (6+feet) and very large, so you can't see behind it. Only strong swimmers should go out there. There is plenty of shallow water beach in front of them for little kids to play in. There are life vests available (I think for free.)

Another vote for Paradise Beach. I think Disney offered an excursion there but it was so nice to go on our own time, and leave around midday when my DD4 at the time got tired (plus I was preggo). Otherwise I think we'd have had to stay until DCL excursion ended.

Nachi cocom-private beach, limited number of guests per day, great food (included in admission price), quiet and great service
