Cozumel Port Adventures

If you've been to Cozumel what port adventures do you recommend? Our son will be 6 when we take this cruise...theres one I'm looking at that includes the Chakanaab park...has anyone been there? Would you recommend it for a 6 year old?

We have been to Paradise Beach 3 times now and enjoy it very much. I don't believe DCL offers this but there are plenty of cabs right outside the port, and at Paradise Beach when we are looking to go back.

We were there once in 2014. We truly enjoyed Xcaret park, especially the 1 hour river swim. We will do it again next March. Last time, our son was 4 and it was easy to pull him or make him hang to our shoulders during the swim. The rest of the park is also quite interesting - probably the best marine park you can visit in the Caribbean.

We did the Fury catamaran snorkel and beach excursion last month in Cozumel and really enjoyed it. We had such a great time that we will likely seek out similar excursions when we do the southern Caribbean cruise next summer.

We have been to Playa Mia a couple of times and enjoyed their beach and pool. There was one excursion that included the ruins and then stopped at Playa Mia too. Now we just get off the ship and wander around the shops and port.

Do this! Paradise beach is amazing. We've done it when we've sailed with Disney and Celebrity. It is SUPER easy to this one on your own. Way less expensive and the facilities/amenities and beach at Paradise are great!

Is Paradise Beach all-inclusive (food and alcohol) like Mr. Sanchos?

PB is not all inclusive. Admission is very cheap - $3 maybe, and they ask you spend $10 in food or drink, though they don't hold you to that as I could tell. A wristband to use the inflatables is another $15. It's super clean, the service was excellent. I'd easily go again.

If you are a big eater and drinker, an all inclusive might be a good deal. For us, PB was much cheaper per person.

Getting there, or any beach, is super cheap. You don't need to pay for DCL excursions. There is a taxi stand with cars and vans standing by straight off the pier, with lists of prices to the various beaches. No haggling, no flagging down taxis.

The wrist band to use the water toys is now $21.00, or at least it was 3 weeks ago.

I'm not sure if these are new or we just never noticed them before, but they also had paddle boards and kayaks that were included with the wrist bands. I expected a line for those but there was not. We did the paddle boards twice, once early in the day and again later, and had no trouble getting them either time.

I agree the facilities are very clean.

***Edited to add, I was corrected. It is $3.00 to get in and $18.00 for the band for the "toys", so its a total of $21.00.

Good to know. My kids used the paddle boards and kayaks when we were there in December. They also have snorkeling gear you can use, but the water is pretty murky.

We did Nachi Cocom when we went a few years ago after reading recommendations on this board. It was all inclusive. A beautiful beach with a pool and not very crowded. My kids were 7 and 10 at the time and not too adventurous to do the more adventurous things some of the other clubs have like water trampolines and other activities. My kids were more into stuff like playing with sand toys and splashing in the surf. Their favorite part was the virgin strawberry daiquiris the bartender at the swim up bar made for them!

You can just show up and pay when you get there.
