Cozumel excursions

Do you have to snorkel? Can you stay in your kayak if you want to? Or just swim around? I have one that is very opposed to snorkeling with "shared" equipment...

You can pick up inexpensive mask and snorkel sets and take with you, they don't take up a lot of room packing and then you can enjoy without missing part of your excursion!
