Cozumel Discussion and Explosive Devices

Sailed last week on the Celebrity Silhouette to the Western Caribbean. Unfortunately, many guests on-board had their excursions cancelled which only added to the crowds of Cozumel.

The spokesperson at Celebrity seemed to indicate that their "submission" to the threat was governed by the directives of the U.S. government (which we understood). However, there were no notifications to us until the presentation of available excursions late, the night before.

All was not lost, as I booked our excursion that was on the island and didn't rely on a cruise sanctioned event.

IIRC, this was a developing situation and Celebrity may not have had any earlier indication of a problem.

Celebrity indicated to us that they use a private charter shuttle boat as these devices were found on public shuttles. But, out of extreme caution they opted to cancel all shuttle boats to Playa del Carmen.
