Leaving on 4/09/05 for western cruise with my wife (no kids) and was wondering who has been on the cozumel beach break. We've done the xcaret excursion and the scuba dive excursions. thanks.

i have never done this excursion but plan on booking it for my 5\2005 cruise-it sounds like fun and is reasonable at $32 for adults and $20 for kids - this is the reply i got when i emailed in for more info:

Our Cozumel Beach Break cannot be booked from your ship. We have selected this club not only for its wonderful atmosphere and services, but because it does not operate directly with cruise ships. This allows you to get away from over organized trips with long lines, packed buses and "cattle" like movements that is so prevalent with other "popular" beach clubs excursions.

The club is located approximately 10 miles from your cruise ship pier and is a short 15 minute taxi ride. Due to port regulations and agreements with taxi unions we cannot provide transportation for you. You can easily arrange a taxi from your terminal for under $15 for up to 4 people. This excursion is at a beach called Nachi Cocum. If you search on Google, you'll find a website for the beach. There's ALOT about both Nachi and this excursion over on the cruisecritic boards. Sounds like a great place & a great price.

Cozumel Beach Break - Don't Bother

We just got back from the Magic Western Cruise and did the Cozumel Beach Break. We don't usually do the ship sponsored excurisons because they are usually overpriced and dissapointing but figured this would be a good one to do with our 3 year old daughter.

It's advertised as 5 - 5.5 hours but we maybe had 3 hours of beach time by the time we got there. We met at 10:30 AM on the boat and didn't get to the beach until 12:30 PM. The tour company running the excursion seemed somewhat disorganized with their transporation, etc. The open bar and buffet that is adverstised is horrible. The food was nasty with nothing really appropriate for kids to eat. The open bar served watered down drinks and only draft beer and didn't seem very clean. For the money, I would have expected a little more.

You are segregated off into a crowded, tiny section of the beach. You can obviously move around to other parts, but it was not what I expected based on the brochure description.

We were dissappointed enough to complain when we got back on board and they did give us 35% off the cost. I would stick with what we usually do - get a cab ride to a nice local public beach. Even if you have to pay an entrance fee and for lunch and drinks, it will be cheaper and you'll probably have a better time.
