Cozumel Beach Break excursion thru DCL or on own? How long is excursion? Other ???s

If we book the Cozumel beach break excursion thru DCL, how does the transportation part work? Do all the cruisers go together in a bus or do you get a taxi voucher? I was in Cozumel in '94 and the taxi drivers scared me to death, and I'm afraid to put my kids in a taxi. What time is the beach break usually over? Is there one scheduled transport from the beach back to the ship or can we leave at our leisure? We'd like to head to town to look around shops. Would love to hear from anyone with experience on this excursion.

We did the DCL beach break excursion in Oct '03. It cost us $180 for four. We rode a non a/c (or a weak a/c) bus to the beach. We all went together. The beach was nice. We were treated very special. There was a special place for only DC guests. It was really nice. The pool was great. My dd's loved the pool are more than the beach. The food was okay. Do I think it was worth the money, NO. Would I do it again, NO. It was great for a first time to Cozumel.

I am checking on Paradise Beach. It is one of Cozumel's newest beaches. It is a $12 - 15 taxi ride ( about 9 miles from the pier). The beach is free and it has all the ammendities of the DCL excursion.

Our excursion ended around 3, we had to wait until the bus filled before they would take us back to the pier. If you do take this excursion, please remember to take tip money with you. They are looking for tips every where there. I am sure that is how it is every where in Cozumel.

There is plenty of time to get back and look around. We took the kids back after the excursion, took showers, dropped them at the lab and went back and did a little shopping close to the ship.

That's very helpful, thank you. Looks like Wednesday (Cozumel port day) is also same night as Pirates In the Caribbean Party, so we want to be in time for dinner at 6. At least I know what my options are.
