Today was my first day back at work after our vacation at WDW. Of course, everyone wanted to know how it went. Most people's eyes glazed over when I started talking about all the magic we experienced on our trip. That's fine; I understand that if you haven't been there, it's hard to 'get it'. A few have been there and understood. But a few others have been there and didn't care for it and had nothing but negative things to say!

I even had one guy tell me, "Well, you only had fun because it was your first time. It's not fun after that." What?!? So I guess all the DISers who've gone multiple times are in denial?

Another said, "I used to live down there, and every time relatives came to visit, I had to take them to Disney World. It's so boring there, I hated it every time."

Are these people living in an alternate reality, or what?

Thank goodness they don't "get it". It means that we don't have to put up with more people there.

I can understand, though. I live about 30 minutes from HersheyPark in Hershey, PA. It's boring for me since I've been there so many times.

:faint:

I'll take denial any day if that's what it is!!!:rotfl:I'll be the one having fun!

You know, I kind of agree with that.......our first tirp was pure magic :cheer2: We've been there 5 times, all of our tirps were enjoyable, butwe never quite found the "magic" again. It gets predictable. Plus, my kids are getting a little old for it (9 & 10). Its not quite like when they actually believed the characters were real, that Cinderella really lived in the castle, etc. Its still a great place for a vacation, but don't go looking for the first-time magic, it just isn't there (kinda describes well,,,,you know :rolleyes1 )

Oh, no! :scared1: Please don't tell me that! I've been worrying about that since we got back. I know WDW will never be all new and shiny to us again, but it's gotta be magical every time, right?!

I have lived an experience where people pay good money to go on vacation and I did everything I could to avoid it on my days off because I worked there and it was not special to me. IMHO when you have anything at your beckon and call it is nowhere as special as it it to someone who has to plan and save to experience it. You really take for granted what is there and don't realize how special it is, until it is not readily available. That is why I do not not wish wish to live extremely close to anything we love again. You honestly take it for granted and it is like just another day. Fortunately we have never lived or worked next to WDW, because it is an escape to us :thumbsup2 and we are dizneynutz :cool1:

We have been going an average of 4 trips the last few years and plan on continueing.

My secretary at work was a doubter. I talked her and her husband into taking their honeymoon their the first week of December this year. She was somewhat ok with it, but her husband thought it was just for children. You should have seen their pictures when they got back. We now have two new members to our Disney family :)

We have been 4 times, and every time has been magical. Each time we find something new! Our last trip was the first time with a child, and that made it a whole new experience! I agree, some people just don't get it! But could you imagine how busy it would be if everyone did!! :scared1:

Several people at work are like this. Their first response is "that's for kids" and then I tell them it's for all ages. If they only think of the MK, yes that's geared towards children. Newbies don't often consider Epcot, DTD, the Resorts, fine dining, golf, etc. that the whole WDW property has to offer everyone. Once they get there they realize that WDW is a world unto itself worth exploring and ever changing.

We know several people like that...God love em' they just don't get it! We are planning to go back for our 3rd year in a row and many of our friends keep asking if we are bored with it yet...there is nothing to do but ride rides. I also have a few that think that it is only one small little park. Why don't we go to one of the closer parks instead of driving 13-14 hours...let em' sit home and wonder! The more I go...the more I wanna go back!

I live in Tampa and to me it's not as magical every time. Of course we still go about every other month because I have a 3 and 4 year old who love it. My older boys are 12 and 14 and they are very bored with it. Once these annuall passes expire, they want the Busch Garden passes back. I may have to do both because I don't see my younger ones outgrowing Disney any time soon.

I do think it's predictable. However, each time we go the weather is nicer and nicer (we got our passes last March) since it is cooling off. And we are no longer trying to ride everything or see everything, we just ride our favorites and walk around, etc. So each time it's less pressure to try to fit as much into one day as possible.

My brother and his family live in Orlando and they go to Church with a lot of people who work in the parks. Everytime we go visit them they roll their eyes when we say we want to go to Disney World, and they love to tell us horror stories from their friends who work at Disney and seem to enjoy telling us what an evil corporation Disney is.

I just plain feel sorry them, that's all. We go to Disney every 2-3 years, and it isn't magic 24/7, to be sure, but we have so many very happy magical memories there, I feel like I can come alive and really let my hair down at Disney World, and I feel a joy and happiness that fills my heart when I am there with my family that makes it worth it every time.

I know Disney isn't it going to be the cat's pajamas for all people, I do get that, but when I am around people like my brother I cannot help but feel pity for them. I wonder if they can let their cynicism go and truly experience childlike wonder with ANYTHING in their lives. I hope they have some sort of release where they can sincerely enjoy something without the smirk!

I am a disneyholic and there is a 12 step program for this disease, but the first thing you need to do is admit there is a problem! I just can't bring myself to admit that it is a problem. I live just a few hours away, and will go to Disney at the drop of a hat. A day trip, a few hours, or overnight it does not matter, I need my disney "fix" at least once a month! We know many who work for the company and it depends on where you are working, your bosses and such whether it is a job or a career. Not all disney employees have a negative attitude about the company, there are some who have been bitten by the magical mouse and still "believe". Fortunately, I have narrowed down my friends to believers like myself, and we count our disney trips almost like holidays. Stories are told about remember when we went to the first MNSSHP, or what dates are we planning on for next year. When Magic kingdom first opened I was in line waiting during the first month. It took us 4 hours on I-4 to get to park, and another 2 hours to get inside the gate. I passed out waiting for food, and swore I would never go back. Now look at me, my house is decorated by the "mouse" and unknown neighbors have stopped by to say they like the Mickey decorations. So, just ignore people who roll their eyes, and find new friends who envypixiedust: your fantasy. I have been more times than I can count, and it still holds "MAGIC" for me.

ITA. We have one water park here called Splish Splash (Travel Channel had it in their top 5 water parks). I've only gone a few times but really never have the time or money to go. DH chaperones our church's youth group every year when they go and loves it. We took our son there for the first time last year and he loved it. He can't wait to go back while I'm ok with just going once in a while.

If you pretty much have a park in your back yard, so-to-speak, you tend not to go as often.
