Coworker vent

Not necessarily. I hate ham, lamb, venison, liver, sardines, anchovies. Won't eat any of them. Ever. Absolutely not exaggerating.

It was an example of how people use terms they don't necessary mean. I said "most people".

By the way, I also hate lamb, venison, sardines and anchovies. I really like ham! :goodvibes
 
I'm not the IT person at our school, but since we only see him once every two weeks, there are quite a few people who come to me to ask for help. I have basically just learned from experience how to fix some issues, and one person told another and so on. I am really amazed at some teachers, who have absolutely no idea how to do even simple tasks. One teacher, who is 40, had to ask me how to attach a document to an email.Another told me her internet was not working, and when I went in, the cord was unplugged:confused3 I usually just have a good laugh with the person, since I am the same way about things like car problems. Besides, it makes me feel good to help them:goodvibes
 
IT support problems are fun aren't they?

I don't claim to be any kind of expert, but in my office I'm as good as it gets as out IT is offsite. There's been plenty of times when I've called IT with an AWFUL problem only to be reminded it was something simple that they've already walked me through fixing about a half dozen times over the last couple of years.

sorry charlie (OP),:rotfl: below is not a vent or even anything that I would have even said out loud......I just tolerate it.

because there is the other side of the coin...you tell eye tea EXACTLY what the problem is and they try to fix everything else except the problem, offering every single simple simon "fix" that most numb skulls would have already tried,
over the phone no less, and, I have no time to wait for IT to catch up to my thought process.
 

But the obverse side of that coin is the majority (not necessairily most, just certainly more than 50%) of contacts to IT are by users with issues like the one the OP encountered: saying "I can't print anything" when they mean "I can't open one specific attachment to an e-mail from my boss, so I can't print it".

Denise, believe me, someone who actually DOES some troubleshooting, much less the CORRECT troubleshooting, is rare. I can't even get people to try rebooting their computer if it's "slow" on their own.

Them: "My computer is running slow"
Me: "Have you tried rebooting?"
Them: "No, you think that could help?" (where's the head smacking smilie?)
