Ok, I have been in my job for a week, and so far I LOVE it...but the issue is my co-worker.

She seems to have story for EVERYTHING, and she seems to know ALL sorts of famous ppl too...well yesterday is when it got odd...

She was telling me how her house was busier, as she had a friend of her husband staying there. Seems the friend was going through a rough patch, possibly getting divorced from his wife cause he cheated..and he was looking for a place to just kinda hide out and relax...Ok, so far so good right...So she then says to me "He also is trying to hide from the press" :scared1: WHA!

So I say, what is Tiger Woods staying with you...and LOL...and she says, no...LOL too, then says you probably know his wife........wait for it......

SANDRA BULLOCK!!:rotfl:

I say you got Jesse James in your house right now!!! With a straight face, she tells me yes...talking about the kids and such...I just kinda :confused3 and move on..

Well I was telling DH and my best friend about it after work, and both agree that its bull...Then, my best friend calls me a few hrs later, seems Jesse was on tv, and they show him having a good weekend in Orange County all right.....CA not FL...so this proves she made the whole thing up...

So now what do I do...I cannot believe ANYTHING that comes out of her mouth, and she believes everything she says...what should I do?

I am the kind of person who just listens (or at least act like I am listening) and occassionally replies with "really?". If they want to live in a fantasy world or try to make themselves more interesting, I just let them.

Keep listening, and then come tell us. :rotfl2: I so miss EvilGenius and her stories about her crazy co-worker!

just yes her do death. Pretend you are interested or every time she mentions a famous person she know, just say... hmmmm, I'm not really a big fan. If she says why, just say, no reason really, I just dont like the music, or like motorcycles, or silly movies. It will drive her crazy trying to find someone you do like to talk about.

honestly I'd just feel sad for her. she must either be sick or just a very sad individual.

I also agree with just noncommital responses. I wouldn't feed into it, because if she is truly sick, I would worry that she would become unhinged completely and direct it my way.

I would also tread lightly since she is not playing with a full deck.

Incorporate, "ah" "oh" "really" into your vocab. Resist the urge to engage her with question because she is baiting you.

:lmao:

This thread could get good

Maybe there will be a celebrity update every day?

Keep us posted;)

I'm signing into this thread... hoping that we have our next "Miss Information" on our hands. Evil Genius's thread was so funny.

Heck, Easter's coming. Maybe you could send your coworker off the deep end by torturing peeps at her desk when she's not around and leaving them for her to find when she returns. :rotfl::rotfl:

I had a co-worker like that - not lying about celebrities but just a liar in general.

This is the one incident I remember most -

I never really talked to her much until I learned we were building our house in the same neighborhood as hers. As we were going through the process I'd ask her all kinds of questions because we'd never been through the building process before. I remember asking her about the different options she selected and asked if she got a basement. She responded "Yes" and went on to explain how she was terrified of tornados and wouldn't want to live a house without a basement. OK, flashforward a few months - I had a question about her basement and she looks at me like I'm nuts and says "I don't have a basement". :confused3

OMG is she related to my co-worker???? I tell ya, this lady that I work with could be her sister! She used to be a Playboy bunny, she drove a race car, she has 500 college degrees, Colonel Sanders is her god father, she knows every famous person there is to know, she used to be involved with the mob. AND she has lived in all 50 states. If you have a problem, she has had the same exact problem and can tell you how to fix it, if you have had a certain experience, she's been through it too.

I was just telling her a few weeks ago that my friend bought me these beautiful orchids and it was really sweet because they are my favorite flower and I never get them, always roses or daisys or something else, but orchids and lillies are by far my favs, so she goes into how orchids are her favorite flower too and she grows them in her garden and how she just loves them and on and on, well her hubby comes into the office a few days later and says, hey hun I got these beautiful rose bushes for you, I know they are your favorite so I had to snag them when I spotted them. She goes into how wonderful it is that he thinks of those things, and it's great that he knows her so well that he remembers after all these years of marriage what her favorite flower is and on and on. My other co-workers and I just laugh to ourselves about it! It's a little ridiculous but what do you do right.

I think you should just keep adding to her stories for her! :lmao: You know, like "and you've been keeping the three kids for him? That's totally nice of you!!":rotfl2:

I was thinking the same thing. OP, you can have so much fun with this!!!

I have a coworker who lies a lot and I love just egging him on and getting him to trip over his lies. It's my form of entertainment at work. :rotfl:

Future wacky co-worker is growing up down the street from me...we always knew the family has some "issues" and have stayed clear of them (still haven't figured out where the husband works because everyone has a different story), but this year the daughter is in DS's class. First she convinced other kids that she was a gymnastics coach and could safely teach them things like handsprings. She told the class she had this amazing pumpkin with all 50 states carved on it (must have gotten smashed because we never saw it) and most recently she sold several hundred dollars for the fundraiser but "lost" the form so couldn't turn it in. And these are just the ones that my 8-yr. old picked up on

Really, though, I feel sorry to think that someone feels so low about themselves that they need to fabricate a life.

I had a college friend who we figured out was a compulsive liar after a while. She was always full of stories too. Once we debunked one of her big ones, we no longer believed anything she said, just let her keep digging in deeper.

Turns out my mother had a college roommate did the same thing. And now my DD14 has two 'friends' who do the same thing (one is way worse than the other).

Your coworker is definitely not an unusual case.

I was becoming friends with a mom from school till I started noticing this too. It was so crazy the things she would say and then the next day act like I made it up and she had never said it. I pulled away after that and then DD started noticing it in her DD. No surprise there I guess. Sad, but IMO a good person to stay away from.

My DS17 has a friend at school like this. My son has been very impressed by all the things this boy says he's done, gone to, etc., but we talked about it last week, and I pointed out to him the inconsistencies in this guy's stories. Since then, my DS has told me that while he still likes this guy -- he's pleasant and fun, really -- he's decided to no longer take at face value all the things he says he's done. He doesn't have to call the guy a liar, just look on him as a good storyteller (he had been starting to feel a little bad about how "well" the guy was doing -- scholarships, trips, etc, until he started to see that many of these things couldn't possibly be true. Now he just enjoys the stories.)

I have a family member who has such crazy stories too. It's sad, because she is in a difficult marriage, has a child w/ autism.....

When she opens her mouth, lord knows what is going to fall out. I wish we could believe everything.
She needs help.

Why don't you ask her to get Jesse James' autograph for you!?!?
:rotfl:
